I know. It's tiresome. It happens a lot on threads. Like they keep reiterating the same arguments to hammer their points home to try and persuade others to agree with them. If we didn't agree with them the first time, we are hardly going to agree with them or more interested the 20th time the same point is made. 💤💤

I've mentioned before that we've stayed twice at an English B&B that provides a very similar breakfast and they only charged us £69 a night for a large room with sofa and coffee table. We mentioned how over generous the food is both times but the host remains insistent that he never wants anyone to go away hungry. There really are people like that, but they're the ones hosting in their home as opposed to more commercial premises.

It's great that people want to be generous, but I absolutely hate the thought of all the wasted food. It really irritates me.

I know and it's still there, the poster has gone offline! Anyone joining avoid going back a couple of pages. First time I've ever seen a spoiler on here.

This is from their website
We have a daily specials menu as well as the "Jolly Breakfast Sundae" and a traditional cooked Devonshire breakfast. Specials could include, as a starter, poached plums with flaked almonds, yoghurt and honey, or as a main course, a smoked river cobbler on a bed of spinach topped with a poached egg. Finish off with a warm pancake with fresh blueberries drizzled with maple syrup - yummy!

So if they didn't always do all that as standard before, it looks like they certainly do now!

I believe that it was their usual breakfast at the time of filming - they are OTT about everything (in a nice way)

.
Me too.
We'd read online reviews commenting and so asked for small portions. We're really not big eaters.
I hate waste but I do like generosity of spirit.
I like massive bath sheets and a top sheet on the bed too (no trouble with a duvet slipping off and because I often get hot in the middle of the night it's nice to have a sheet when I throw the duvet back.

Me too although I did once see a post warning not to go on a website as they too had given the game away. That's bad too.

Nope, just being naked in public is not illegal. The naked rambler guy was an activist who took naturism to a ridiculous degree in order to push forward his agenda - he was jailed, if I remember rightly, for public disorder offences and contempt of court (he turned up naked!). Being naked in a public place doesn't fall under indecency laws unless you are doing some lewd or harrassing others.

No, I do need to post on this.

Scottish law is different to English and Welsh law and he was arrested in Scotland after completing his walk all the way from Lands End. He was issued with an ASBO by one judge interpreting the law very subjectively and consequently rearrested every time he broke that ASBO. He has spent many years, mostly in solitary confinement for something which is in fact legal in England and Wales. The ludicrous thing is, if he was outside, naked beside somebody else, he would be arrested, the other person would not be. Public nudity is not illegal, if it was, there would be no such things as naturist beaches, skinny dips for charities, of which there are several every year, and World Naked Bike Rides would not take place. Many people skinny dip and strip off in the country side and unless your clear intent is to cause alarm and distress to other people, you are quite within your rights to be naked without harassment. Walking, if done in very quiet spots (most people don't go beyond a mile from the car park) is quite possible. Being nude in itself as said does not fall under indecency laws.

Too true.

Yes we do have a good joke on here about stuff and we don't always agree but it is still a good humoured thread in the main.

Perhaps these two should both consider that the thread just might get closed if they continue with one always going on and on and the other continually being bad-tempered and bitching about it. The going on and is annoying and irritating but the bad-tempered bitching is uncalled for.

I liked todays place and yesterdays as well, both are good value for money and i would happily stay there, so i would be happy for either to win.

My main pet peeve is still breakfasts, how do they get the orders so wrong, either they are trying too hard or the hosts dont actually deal with the breakfast and are only doing it for the camera's, seeing the breakfasts though still makes me hungry everyday

Anyway...

The accommodation and surroundings today looked lovely. Shame about the faulty shower. At least that happened to Johnny and he didn't go on about it and he did get a hot shower too.

Looking at Higher Gitcombe, you can hire the whole house out for a self catering break if you want to. I wonder where Lynnie and Paul go when they do that?

Perhaps they have a break themselves? In a naturist resort

sorry

I think it's easy for us lot to criticize but I imagine people who are usually very competent are fazed by the camera intrusion into the whole ordering and cooking process. Same as on Come Dine With Me when people say the food's not as hot as it should be or it's very overdone, I always think, well if the host had been left in peace to get on with it then it'd probably have been fine.

It's similar to how people find something they shouldn't. I heard Lynnie say today "I polished that toilet" - and I believe her. There was still a curly hair in the loo though. It happens all the time.

Yes, absolutely! I'm a pretty competent and confident home cook, but I'm sure I'd struggle to put together even a simple dish, in my own kitchen, on camera.

Today's place was lovely and my fave of the week. The posh bloke's place is my second fave. I wouldn't stay at the nudie place and was put off the young folk's place by her behaviour. She was burping again today at the table. When she was eating a croissant, she ate it over the plate of other pastries. All the crumbs from her mouth were dropping over the pastries left on the plate. I hope she ate them all or they were chucked after she'd finished!

Simon really is an odd bloke.

The post which supposedly gives away the winner says that there is a 4IAB plaque on the website.

I've had a peek and it says 'As seen on Channel 4's Four in a Bed' along with the Channel 4 logo for the prog. So the poster may be mistaken and it may not be a spoiler after all.

Oh I've just looked because I'd read the post anyway and you're right, it's not a plaque after all. It's the old style brown and cream B&B sign from the programme titles and says as seen on (as you said)

As you were folks!

ew - Simon?

I'm afraid public nudity baffles me. Why do they do it? I don't get this 'feeling free' without clothes attitude, our climate doesn't support it and we wear clothes for many good reasons! Any nudists/naturalists on here to explain it to me??
