Condescending, patronising, superior, disdainful, contemptuous and any other synonyms you can think of. I could hit both of them Arrogant, supercilious ****s.
I was going to do that! ^^^

BTW - You missed odious. I had that at the top of my list!

Today's place was lovely. If I stayed there, I'd choose the room Pauline and Claire had. But I'd never stay there with those two horrible people running the place. Who'd want to eat breakfast with that @rsehole Mike listening and watching everything you said and did? He should not be eating breakfast with paying guests anyway.

The poster who said Karen's posh accent slipped a few times is right. No offence to anyone but she is more Essex 'girl' than to the manor born! To be really awful about her - she's supposed to be 58. She dresses like some fuddy old dowager. And that better not be real fur she's wearing.

Why did these two do the prog? Who would want stay there after seeing these two objectionable prats?

I can't remember exactly what the horrible Castle lady said yesterday at the end, but she was very slating towards Wortwell Hall Barn. Incidentally, it isn't in Harleston as the commentary keeps saying. The name is a give way - it is in Wortwell 2-3 miles away.

She said something along the lines of she wouldn't stay there again; she would stay at a 5 star hotel down the road instead. Well, good luck with that dear! We are talking about my neck of the woods. There are masses of lovely B&B's; excellent pubs with accommodation; self catering cottages to die for. But 5 star hotels? In your dreams.

Certainly odious! I can think of many, many more synonyms too, but most of them would be deleted by the mods!

Evening. I've had to watch on +1 today.

Frozen bubble and squeak? straight from ASDA I bet
It's certaily more Little Chef than cordon bleu and as for the broken egg, regardless of what you think about food waste, it's an absolute no-no from a professional cook. My OH won't even serve a broken yolk even though I'm perfectly happy to eat them and that's only at home, let alone 'high end' dining.

They are all so nasty enjoying when things go wrong.
In this case though I think it's only as a result of how tonight's hosts have conducted themselves. I think if they'd been more amenable they'd have received sympathy rather than glee.

I thought that. You are there for your guests. They seem to class them as an annoyance!
and that was the only class we saw tonight.
Anyone can have class. It's not about where you're born, educated, or your standard of living, it's about how you conduct yourself and how you treat people you meet regardless of their standing in society or financial clout.

I'd already had a little look around before the postings earlier regarding Mike and his business activities.
Mike and Karen are only part owners of the property company which owns the castle hotel and other interests. There are two other family members, one residing in South Africa who are also shareholders.
I could have done a lot more digging but got bored and wasn't all that interested, suffice to say there's quite a trail of property companies, some of which are dissolved. It was quite an intrigue. I won't comment any further in that vein but I think it would be quite illuminating for their fellow competitors.

As for tonight's venue, delusions of grandeur so far as I can see. There are some bathroom fittings and bits of fabric tat which are of far inferior quality to anything else seen this week and the 'spa' was quite a horror in my eyes.

You can't just chuck a meager length of garish chiffon around a bedroom or a bit of bling and think it elevates your establishment to the realms of the higher echelons of the hospitality industry.

I found this evening's episode rather unpleasant and feel they did their business no favours whatsoever. By the same token Natasha demonstrated traits of inverted snobbery and it didn't reflect well on her either. I'm happy to cut her more slack though on the basis she'd quite probably been sorely tested throughout the day.

Big potential to kick off as the trailer's already suggested.

Ha Ha Hooter, mine too, or Kippers and Curtains is another one
Believe me I can spot tat at nine yards off

I was thinking after I posted, that in the main I think I'd get on OK with Karen, so long as she didn't unleash her inner bitch. She reminds me of the kind of right old gal who'd go to the races in Debenhams' finest but by the end of the day would be ratted on champers and minus a shoe having had a whale of a time. I think Mike brings out the worst in her really.
Instead of affecting an air of superiority she should just own it and be who she is.

They really missed a trick by showcasing their disdain for the other contestants tonight instead of demonstrating how high their level of customer service is(might be)

Definitely.

Mike shouldn't have been be having breakfast with the others. It wasn't the best ad for prospective customers having him sitting there in judgement of everyone.

As for Karen, all we've seen is her inner bitch and after bubble and squeak gate she's a dismissive and lazy one at that!

Castle??? Did they buy it at Argos? That's as much a castle as one of Ambers Bell Tents.

A better description actually appears on google maps...a 19th-century stone building with towers. Spot on. A building. An old gatehouse or, indeed, lodge, is slightly different to the genuine castle it may once have served. There's another give away to their utter bull***t accompanying the locator tag...plush rooms in a 19th-century castle. Plush??? A word generally used by the aspiring lower classes I'd say old chap.

Mike's ridiculousness at breakfast was completed by his massive cereal bowl. It was definitely from the same stable as Partridge's oversized plate. What a complete roaster.

These two are so ridiculous I'm still to be convinced they're real. They can't be, can they?

I'm sure she served me a few lager and blackcurrants at a backstreet boozer down south 30 years ago

If she's 56 I'll eat his hat.

I like her, she has a sense of humour, and if you watch her face when her partner says things that would irk you, she kind of grimaces.....

If you read their reviews they are all good, and she is mentioned a lot as being kind and helpful. Besides which they have a Manager who runs the hotel, and there is no way that Mike sits at breakfast with guests, this was all set up. You cant win, people complain when the hosts dont join them, and people complain when they do. Its his place he can sit where he likes basically.

I think anyone who goes on 4 in a Bed needs their head seeing to, as every week we have the same argey bargey with someone who comes over horrible, but its all down to production and cuts.

Mike comes from South Africa, when i lived in Africa I found it difficult as a lot of whites treated the community very badly and with disdain.

I cant say I like the man to be honest, but i loved their place. 195.00 a night for Bath with B&B and a hot tub isnt expensive. BUT you can get it cheaper if you book on line 175.00.

To be fair the facilities are:

• Outdoor Hot Tub (Adults only)
• Gym (Adults only)
• Sauna (Adults only)
• A rejuvenating bamboo shower
• Gardens with woodland walk
• Roof terraces

Again with the breakfasts, she had chefs, she should have let them deal with it. As to frozen bubble and squeak speachless lol..... its no different then frozen hash browns, or frozen sausages.

If you want to see ODIOUS, watch Come Dine With Me, after now there are two people on there who are the most disgusting, odious, arrogant people i have ever seen on the T.V. I nearly threw my cup at the telly i was so angry.

Anyway cant wait until Friday to see how bad the payments are. I think we will have a surprise low payer just get the feeling about one couple.

You do NOT turn off your ovens until breakfast is cleared surely? in case you get a late order, very unprofessional( see I can be picky too )
To be fair, this is being filmed, I expect they were there for several hours. Its not like the real thing is it, because if it was she wouldnt have been cooking it in the first place.

I spoke to the girl at Foxy last week, she said it was really stressful, and the filming went on for ever (4 days). Most of the breakfasts were cold and cut and edited. Its just a T.V. programme.

I think what you see is not necessarily how it all really is. Anyway who risks their livelihood on this programme is nuts.

My friend who has a B&B was asked to go on it, her son is a solicitor funny enough, and he advised her against it. She is lovely and I know her place well she would have been distraught if anyone left her a bad comment or low mark.

We dont have to like the hosts we are only seeing them for a time, we dont really know what their like. IF MIKE was that ODIOUS, they would not have good reviews. I think in the main he keeps out of the way. I like Karen, she works hard, she actually said at the beginning she did it all, fair play to her. Hardly the sign of someone who thinks they are above themselves. I just think personally she is with the wrong guy.

I think the Lady of the Manor showed her true colours last night, if she could be that rude and obnoxious about the bubble and squeak to her fellow contestants on a tv show I can only imagine how rude she could be to her ordinary guests if there was a complaint.

I got the feeling that she could be a right moo tbh.

You are right, it is a lodge, a smaller house on the estate of something much bigger.

If you read the poor and terrible review on TA it seems they are a lovely couple until someone complains about something, then they start throwing words around like 'psychotic' about their guests, one fellow took pics of the grime in the bathroom and the owner still denied it all, stay there and get a lovely welcome, but do not DARE to complain or feel his wrath it seems.

I would not want to stay in the lodge simply because of their attitude to people who they seem to think are below them.

It's Mike who does the replies on TA. To be fair, practically all of the reviews they get are 5* but when they get a poor one, Mike's response is verbose, very long-winded and incredibly rude - very much like stuff you'd imagine Basil Fawlty would come up with if Fawlty Towers had been set in the internet age.

I liked the castle. I always like a place that's a bit different to the run of the mill pubs etc. I like Karen. She has a real sense of humour. Unlike the "Im great fun" tash. She is really annoying me. Jenny was a miserable bint today, I thought, going on about the price of everything, wanting less luxury for less money. She's completely missing the point of the programme I.e. different establishments competing, not just four identical places charging the same.

The breakfast fiasco. I have to say I agree with Karen. Why would you eat your breakfast then order another when it had been cleared away. Of course she should have cooked it longer and not brought it out frozen but she was right not to encourage their game playing.

I would never stay at a "B&B" who charge those kind of prices, if they are going to charge 5* hotel prices, then l would expect the same kind of facilities, like room service, and the option of having an adequate and substantial breakfast in my room.

Did not think what they offered was value for money, and found it really odd, that not only did Mike sit in the dining room with them all, but he did not even greet them or acknowledge them in any way.

Breakfast fiasco? Over someone asking for bubble and squeak? It can only be called a fiasco because she made into one! They were still eating breakfast. The plates were still there. Although they had finished when the bubble and squeak was served. It can't be that hard to cook a few more frozen B&S. That's all they asked for - bubble and squeak not another full English with eggs cooked 10 different ways. All she had to do was go to the freezer and heat the things to an acceptable temperature! She clearly couldn't be @rsed. Her attitude was dreadful as were her comments. But then for these two, that's nothing different to the rest of the week.

They see themselves as very clever and vastly superior to everyone else in 4IAB but they are absolute fools to go on this prog and behave in this way.

If they were staying at a regular b and b for a weekend would they really eat all their breakfast then ask for something else to be made? I doubt it. It's a classic tactic on FiAB to try to run the hosts ragged. I suppose if Karen was being clever she would have smiled and went along with it and she has probably lost points in the competition but I doubt very much if the people who stay at their place would be put off. They wouldn't be acting like that in the first place.

But this is what they've shown themselves to be like on TV. People who might have stayed there now have had the chance to see what they are really like. 'Posh' Karen going all Hyacinth Bucket in the kitchen, Mike bad-mouthing his guests - for that was what the other B&Bers are for the purposes of the programme - and them charging £200 to serve up frozen bubble and squeak. We've seen much more difficult breakfast requests in the past, and this didn't take much effort really.

From reading the TA reviews, it seems that they provide only a continental breakfast for the price they charge, and they have to pay more for a cooked one. They also charge £30 an hour if guests want to check in early.

There's something decidedly dodgy about this set-up and Mike in particular.

I am convinced that some people on this show have only ever cooked the breakfast once and that's when they are on this show. They look so out of their comfort zone in the kitchen it beggars belief that they do it for a living.

And for the price being asked I would expect fresh B&S to be made, not bulk bought from the frozen cabinet.

It is obvious that some contestants are deliberately awkward at breakfast in order to cause problems....in the case of two days ago and the pre-ordered breakfast fiasco if I was the owner I'd be inclined to not pander to those who need 12 hours and a full night's sleep before they can make the huge decision about how they want their eggs served or if beans will be required and just give them the basic full-english. In my establishment that would be how I'd deal with anyone who had stubbornly refused to pre-order the night before.

"There's your food, eat what pleases you and leave what doesn't".

When we were in the trade if you didn't order your cooked breakfast the night before Continental was your only option when you came down in the morning.
