I think Simon is VERY attractive, i am quite taken by him… hmmmmm

Anyway moving on……. Cathy really is doing herself no favours, she seems to latch on to a tiny thing and make a big deal of it. Her "humour" (because i am suspecting she has quite a dry sense of humour) isn't working and seems to be rubbing people up the wrong way. Also she really is setting herself up for a fall the way she is scoring people.

I don't see how anyone could underpay for tonights rooms, they were all so cheap, even Simons at £90 was cheap in comparison to some of the other places shown on this show. In terms of value for money it certainly seemed to be that.

As an aside, BB owners… is £15,000 on a bathroom in a room you charge £90 a night for really worth it? I mean it would take quite a while to pay back surely? (£90 X 167 is over £15k but that ignores all the other costs associated with providing the room)

Not sure how it works but the investment must add to the value of the property, therefore it doesn't all have to be recouped from the paying guests. If I was Mark, I would ditch the hassle of potential ungrateful guests and pack it up.

He keeps looking at her when the question 'would you stay here again' comes up. He's terrified to say yes. I hope she's deeply embarrassed by her behaviour and especially making fun of someone just because they pronounce something differently. Especially as Millie says English is not her first language and is a lot better than Kathys Russian.

Yeah i suppose i didn't think about it adding value to the property if they were to sell it. Still, seems like a lot of money for a bathroom.

I would imagine that Mark's B & B is an adjunct to his main income as a farmer - hence the £15,000 bathroom. At any event, he's a smashing host and the breakfast was clearly delicious, even if the staff let him down on two front - cleaning and taking the breakfast order. (I do wish guests would stop whittering on about cobwebs, however. Spiders are everywhere, especially in old buildings and/or the country, and they can spin a new web in 15 minutes flat!)

As for Kathy. What on earth has happened to the poor woman that has made her such an up-tight and miserable individual. She wouldn't even allow her son his own memories or feelings, which is very, very weird. Not a comfortable person to be around at all - and clearly not v. bright to be so dismissive of other people and their businesses when hers is yet to be judged. Arrogance, perhaps?

Ignorant and arrogant. I cannot abide someone who makes fun of people just because they don't pronounce something or say things the way they would. It's the height of bad manners and very hurtful to the other person.

Feel exactly the same aft. Just shows that despite her being "posh" she lacks class IMO.

Well I'd certainly stay there tonight, he seems a terrific host, although a bit of a manicure under the nails wouldn't have gone amiss!
Shame the girl helping let him down because the food looked good.

The bathroom wasn't particularly expensive to be fair, we had ours refitted 3 years ago and it cost a bomb. The fixtures, fittings and tiles were a lot of money, but also if you can't do the work yourself that soon racks up a huge extra bill, all plus 20% VAT.
He has said several times that it's home, it's not a hotel, so it's added to the restoration of a beautiful place.
They do need to check more for dust that gathers, but it didn't look like the general cleaning of the more obvious places was neglected.

The prices seemed reasonable compared to a lot on this show and I think you got quality for the cost (apart from the toys and ornaments, please let those go)

So far Cathy seems rather sour.
Millie has the measure of her doesn't she on the speak better English than she speaks Russian

I think this is the first time ( for me ) of watching 4iab that there seems to be no reason why a guest (Kathy and son) should not want to stay again.

Both nights she has been the only one to say no. Her place must be fantastic

Very risky business to say that before you are yet to be judged. I can quite easily say I wouldn't want to stay at hers, for no other reason than having to see her.

I really hope they are mean to her.

Do you mean as well as them or do you mean you are Carol?

We're not in T Wells, we're out in the back of beyond in the wilds, but we do go shopping there as and when, it's our nearest large shopping centre

That we may never know. DAMN! I was typing this post and I broke a nail.

Kathy looks like Maureen Lipman and Margaret Thatcher combined. She is an insufferable pedantic madam.

DAMN! I broke another nail.

Kathy's son doesn't drive. He has no driving licence. Will mommy allow him one?

I broke another nail!
