Our kitten, Amy, is ripping bits of wallpaper off the wall and eating it. Does anyone have any idea how to stop her? We have tried tapping her rear when she does it and shouting at her and removing her from the wall but as soon as we are not looking she does it again. We only have three rooms with wallpaper and can't afford to get any more decorating done. She also eats newspaper. She is well fed, by the way.

Husband says we should give her a ladder and a bag to put the paper in. I hope he is joking----

I’m no expert but I wouldn’t smack the cat rear end, the poor kitten doesn’t know it doing wrong

What I will say is with it being a kitten can you not play more with it, give it more things to play with, cats at that age are full of energy, I know I have had a few, wee darlings 

Much like our Chihuahua pup when they get bored they get up to no good ! Really need to redirect the chewing and tearing to something you don't mind them having, we use kongs,balls, squeaky toys and fluffy stuffed toys and flannels etc but a kitten may prefer a scratching post and kitten toys.

We have 3 other cats as well as kids and there is a scatching post upstairs and downstairs. The kitten has plenty of toys and lots of attention. At the moment we are distracting her by giving her pieces of cardboard but she prefers the walls. Have a feeling she is craving more attention. Husband is distracting her by letting her chase a torch beam along with the other cats. They are at present running up and down the hall.
