Ena Green - Elizabeth Dawn
Age - 55
Ena is a very manipulative and strong willed woman. She's the Queen of The Square and she knows it - having the Square's most prized possession - The Oak Barn. However, as Ena only has Frank, her husband, and no children of her own, she longs for a life like Martha's, where she could have family around her and be happy. Ena lives with the secret well - better than both Hilda and Martha, but lives in constant fear of the body being discovered in The Oak Barn. Perhaps Ena could embark on fostering due to her loneliness, which could pave the way for teen characters.
Frank Green - Peter Armitage
Age - 54
Frank is very happy being the landlord of The Oak Barn, and is very proud of his wife, Ena. However, he is unaware of the truth - that Ena, Martha and Hilda killed a man, but more importantly, the man was his brother, Matthew. Ena has not realized it yet, but Frank's missing brother Matthew was the one she killed. Sometimes, Frank gets bored of Ena and sleeps with both Martha and Hilda on the side, but struggles to keep the truth sometimes from Ena. Due to Frank being a big drinker - more often than not, him and Ena do not see eye to eye over simple matters.
The Longstaff Family - Own 'Total Fitness' the gym.
Martha Longstaff - Cathy Breeze
Age - 50.
Martha is a long-time barmaid in The Oak Barn, having worked there since it was built 30 years ago. Martha is the matriarch of a large local family - The Longstaffs. Martha has a life long enemy - Hilda Davies, her brother's first wife whom he divorced after she spent all his money - and her story lines are centered around her history within The Square - having lived there since the age of 20. Martha has a deep dark secret, however, she, Hilda and Ena Green all murdered a man who attacked them when they were working late in the pub just over 30 years ago. The man is buried in the basement of The Oak Barn, and the three struggle to live with the secret. Martha struggles to cope with the death of her teenage son Chad years ago, when he was hit by a bus.
Chris Longstaff - Simon Gregson
Age - 33
Chris owns the gym, calling it 'Total Fitness' and set it up in memory of his elder brother Chad, who was killed when he was a teenager from being hit by a bus. Chris is glad of his success, but often becomes embarrassed by his mother due to her tart reputation. Chris has a son, Tyler, who he hardly sees, but he constantly strives to make Tyler think his dad is successful.
Diane Longstaff - Gemma Bissix
Age - 29
Diane is a bitch, and she knows it. She's a huge gold digger and knows what she wants in life - money. If she sets her sights on something, she'll get it, and she won't care who she hurts in the process. However, Diane idolizes her older brother Chris, and wishes she was just like him. Perhaps Diane sleeps with Frank, thinking he's successful, but he isn't and becomes pregnant instead? Also, Diane should have shares in the nightclub at some point.
The Davies Family - own 'Becky's Boutique', the boutique.
Hilda Davies - Claire King
Age - 53
Hilda was the first wife of Martha's brother, but after she spent all his cash, he divorced her and moved away. After settling down in The Square, Hilda has lived there ever since on a yacht in the fishing dock, but longs for the life Ena has living in The Oak Barn and wishes she could own several businesses, but she just doesn't have the cash. Hilda desperately wants Martha to keep her secret - as it could ruin her whole life. Hilda focuses on her eldest daughter, Becky, and nothing else.
Becky Davies - Julia Haworth
Age - 30.
Becky is very successful and owns her own boutique, Becky's Boutique, which she runs by herself with no input from her mother. Becky is very selfish when it comes to money and does not give her mother a penny, preferring to live in the flat above the boutique instead of on the yacht with her mother. Becky is unable to keep a man in her life as her mother is too clingy, but Becky is so desperate for a relationship that she would do anything. (Becky could be involved in a domestic abuse storyline due to her desperation to keep a man)
