This, without question IMO!

Loved Susanna's so much. Not a Natalie fan and have never found the music so terribly distracting as in her dance tonight

I totally agree about Susanna, it felt like Kevin got so excited about going to Blackpool he forgot to choreograph anything for her. But I expected at least one ten as she should have got one last week and missed...

In terms of originality, Natalie!

In terms of capturing the spirit of the dance, Susanna!

Can't decide which one I like better, but Natalie definitely danced with better technique.

.....and for me, it she'd had more appropriate music, she'd have edged Susanna.

^^^^^^^ pretty much all of this. I laughed all the way through the paso - didn't really rate it at all personally.

Was a bit disappointed in Nat's dance tbh but technically she was head and shoulders above the rest.

Susanna - blacked up with too much brown make up as usual. I thought her performance was overdone. No fluidity, no grace. Not convinced by all those scary grimaces! I don't think she is that good a dancer in any case. She was trying to be sensual tonight - she's a pretty woman but there isn't a trace of sensuality about her. I'm sorry but that bit where she hoisted up her skirts to display her thighs was a bit like your Mum showing her knickers at New Year. Not nice

They both scored 39?!

I've made known my love for Natalie, but tonight I was a little disappointed. She danced with great technique and flair but she just wasn't on the money for me. I didn't see them as a couple, Artem was grabbing my attention far more. He oozed style. I don't think that horrid Will.I.Am music helped, it was very sparse in places. It should have been a traditional orchestral arrangement of The Charleston.
Susanna did a lot of wafting and dramatic walking, but she captured the mood brilliantly. To answer the OP's question, I would say about the same - what one lacked in, the other was good in.

Natalie. Susanna mostly wafted her skirt in sync to Bizet's music whilst Kevin danced his little heart out. Artem and Natalie produced something different but still not worth three 10s.

I preferred Susannah's dance, but only because of the routine/music and Kevin's dancing.
Susannah was very much the support part of the act (the same goes for last week's dance as well - Kevin is great at choreography. Susanah just has to follow his lead to score high marks).

Natalie's dance I found a little boring and her dancing wasn't as good as most other weeks.

And, as the judges are supposed to be marking celebs not their partners, I think both celebs were over-marked.

I think there is definitely bias here too.
Last week Brendan's choreography for the AT was applauded by the judges, but Sophie's marks were lower than deserved.

Of course, it could just be that the 'spirit of Blackpool' went to the judges heads this week.
But there again... that didn't apply to Craig's marks for Sophie....

I didn't like either. Natalie was under par and Susanna sucked lemons and wafted her skirt while the audiences' eyes were drawn to Kevin leaping everywhere. I think Susanna was also carried by the traditional crowd-pleasing music. I think it's so unfair that the producers' decisions lead to some people doing a Paso to The Toreador from Carmen while others end up trying to do a Rumba to Goldfinger.

Too appalled by KFG's dreadful length trousers and awful socks to notice much more than Sophie wafting.

Similarly distracted by the dire version of Bang Bang to really get into the Charleston.

neither both drastically overmarked

I thought both were massively overmarked, but Natalie moreso. I though the choreography was poor and the execution very ordinary. Can't see how that was more than 7s, to be honest. Would've put Susanna at 8s.

Susanna - as with 'Bad Moon Rising' and her charleston she got the best music tonight, and it looked authentic - but all she did was stomp around the floor twitching her skirt like a 'heavy footed bull' as someone said on another thread. Kevin did all the dancing - but I wasn't impressed with the flamenco elements after having seen the real thing. I didn't think it was exceptional, just flashy.

I wasn't keen on Natalie's music but she performed really well - and as one judge said she reminded me of old footage I've seen of Josephine Baker. Come on Natalie!

Susanna was a bit too much pantomime dame for my liking this week. But the judges like her and imo they consistently overmark her. Was it last week or the week before that they gave her a spectacular dress - which did all the work!

Susanna.

Natalie's dance didn't even make the top five for me tonight. Not one for conspiracy theories, but why didn't the judges comment on her being very heavy footed all the way through

And it is rather sad when most of the people on this forum already predicted that Natalie would score 39/40 even before she danced.

Susanna. Lovely, rousing, traditional paso choreo. The music did help them a lot, I'll admit. And I am a fan of hers on BBC breakfast.

Natalie Heavy footed I am not sure what that makes all the others.

I simply don't like Susannah but I loved that traditional paso and tonight I thought she edged it over Natalie.

Not a fan of either Lady.... but Susanna would get my vote tonight. Imo it was the most enjoyable Paso since Austin Healy......

Agreed!!! I'm a huge Natalie fan and have to say her Rhumba, Samba and VW deserved 39. I mean 39 for a charleston when Sophie got 36?? Just no. Just glad smug Susanna wasn't outright top.
