A good professional dancer can make any bad amateur look great.. this is what happened with Kevin and Susanna ..they were way over marked..

No idea. I have to leave the room when Susanna Reid is on TV. Irritating woman!!

Not sure what the actual piece of music is called, but it's the main theme to Bizet's Carmen.

The great thing about Suzannas performance is that she nailed the Carmen role to perfection.

thanks David i will try and google it see if i can get a name from that.

I loved Suzannes pasedoble, I love Natlie and Artem, but i hated the music to the charleston, (adore the charleston dances as a rule) but was hugely disappointed tonight, i supposed she danced aswell as she could to disappointing music.

I'll echo everybody else who has said the Paso was all about Kevin. I hardly noticed Susanna and that's not how it's supposed to work.

I don't think Natalie was dancing at 100% tonight, but she was still a damn sight better than anybody else. Unfortunately I don't really enjoy any Charleston, even a fresh, innovative Artem Special is more "I quite enjoyed that" rather than "LOVED IT" so it's not a dance I'm likely to be wowed by anyway.

I don't carry a favourite celeb through the series - it's all about the dance. Natalie's Charleston was let down by the music - needed a 20s tune. Susanna's Paso was lifted by Bizet's best.
Sorry but the top2 tonight were Susanna and Sophie

I think that Kevin is an excellent teacher.

To be fair this dance is all about the man. It might not showcase the celeb well in this competition well but it is a man's dance with the woman as support artist. The division of labour from that point of view was spot on.

its the prelude. the theme also reappears in act 4 at the entry of the bullfighters

In my opinion:

Technically Susanna was not as good as Natalie.
Artistically, Artem and Natalie's peformance was better.
Artem and Natalie's performance was the most balanced regarding focus on pro and celeb

But....
Kevin and Susanna's performance will be the one I remember and the one that gave me the most enjoyment! . So it is the one I voted for.

Usually known as the March of the Toreadors.

This is true about it being the man's dance but I didn't notice Susanna at all. Strictly is a TV show with an emphasis on the celeb, Kevin could have remained the focus of the dance yet still given Susanna more to do. I only recall a bit of skirt wafting.

Nat's music was a massive fail.”

Agree with all of this. But Natalie was also perceptively off time during much of that performance. Are we saying that was 'intended'?

Yup, I said the same thing. With other dance, I think Kevin would be too indulgent and rightfully chatised, but to pick Paso to slag him as 'it's all about him', I mean, are you serious? Clutching on straws much?

Total nonsense! She attempted (though not perfect) the Spanish lines, did those intricate gestures with her hands/fingers. When they danced together, she did her level best to match Kevin, and by and large, she carried it off. Yes, her left shoulder is up again (!) which made me think her tens were OTT from the judges, but since the judges overmarked from almost the very first dance, I think she deserve the top of the leaderboard.

If people say Austin Healey did well with his content-lite Paso with only posturing and got tens flying around (except from Len), then Susanna and Kevin deserved kudos for being completely unapolegetic about it tonight!

Actually Kevin did well by his partner. She achieved her first 10s and was joint top of the leader board. If using himself and being more prominent is/was the way to go with this dance then so be it. I doubt Susanna will complain.

It's total nonsense that I barely noticed her? But it's true! Whatever she did or didn't to, tried to do or failed to do she left no impression on me. That was my personal response to watching her.

Susanna & Kevin burned up the dancefloor at Blackpool - their performance was far more sincere, and engaging. Music, costume, expression (both facially, stance & musical) were all to perfection.

I found Natalie & Artem's Charleston less enthusiastic, and the music was just awful. I had a hunch before the dance that she was channelling Josephine Baker, and it was interesting to hear that stated after it. I vastly prefer Sophie & Brendan's stylish and sophisticated Charleston which really rocked along (no pun intended).

S&K should have been a 40 - N&A were, for me, over-marked.

I agree, but Sophie's Charleston was way better than Natalie's.
Abbey, Ben and Natalie are being favoured in the judges scores this series.

Easily Suzannas .......not just best tonight.....best of the series by a mile

Susanna for me too, wasn't keen on Natalie's routine or music. Such a shame Sophie danced hers so early in the competition as it was much better and got less marks.

both overmarked
Natalie was let down by the terrible music choice
who danced better? I think they were level pegging

To be strictly correct Kevin I suspect got the 10s. Susanna just got them by association.
