I don't see pages of outrage expressed over Bruno swearing on air (for the second time that I know of) during a family show.

But then we don't have constant calls for Bruno to retire - double standards imo.

Btw I am neutral about Bruce's capabilities although I do prefer Tess and Claudia presenting.”

Well, "imo" you're completely missing the point.

Bruno is not irascible, he's not beginning to lose his cognitive faculties, nor fluffs his lines, nor gets easily irritated and doesn't try to make the show all about him.

We just get Bruno in short bursts after the performances of each of a diminishing number competitors, as we do all the other judges, whilst conversely, we never seem to be able to get away from the old fella and his nonsense.

While I sympathise ... does that mean you are not fat or obese ? If so I suggest you are in denial.

No. It tells me he eats WAY too much ! ”

Once again my words are twisted to suit an agenda.

I did not say the neither Mark nor I are fat. I said there may be a reason why he could do nothing about it. I assume that you are medically qualified to be able to state that someone should do something about losing weight. I suggest you get in touch with my consultant and and the person who looks after Mark's health, as you obviously think they're not qualified to oversee a patient's weight and need you to tell them how they should do it.

I simply said that Mark is FAT and Obese ...... if you have evidence to the contrary please offer it.

For some you are not allowed to be fat or hard of hearing. Says more about them, than anything else.

Biggest irony is Mark has lost weight doing SCD, so it is a bonus the longer he stays in.

It was enough of an incident for Tess to apologise to us on behalf of the BBC/Strictly team though whether we were offended or not.

I don't think I'm missing the point - OP said they cringed and asked if we felt the same, I didn't and feel there was more to comment on re Bruno's lack of self control which incidentally, hardly registered with me but was still more cringeworthy than Bruce being supportive.
BIB - Bruno has done the attention seeking "all about me" stunts since I started watching the show.

It was only the comments that told me Bruno had used a mild expletive. I hadn't noticed otherwise.

I did notice Bruce muttering about Mark's weight, twice.

BIB, this is true, but as I mentioned, we don't have to put up with it through the whole show.

No, you didn't just say that; in your message #123 you said "It tells me he eats WAY too much !"

Just read on the news about a 22 year-old Frenchman who weighs 32 stone was refused a seat on a plane to bring him back from the USA where he was being treated for a hormonal imbalance which is the cause of his weight problem.

If you don't know a person, you can't say why they're overweight.

Mark has been brilliant - I, along with many others (note I didn't say all others) have thoroughly enjoyed his entertaining attempts at he dances.

A bit more about ...
'Too fat to fly' Frenchman finally arrives at Heathrow from US after Virgin take pity on him (after even a cruise liner turned him down)

Quote:
“A Frenchman who was left stranded in the US after being deemed too heavy to fly home on a British Airways flight has finally arrived back in Europe.

Kevin Chenais, 22, had flown from his home in France to spend 18 months at the world famous Mayo Clinic in Minnesota for treatment for a rare hormone disorder that affects body growth and caused his weight to balloon.

While British Airways were happy to fly him to America they refused to honour his return ticket in October due to his weight and Kevin was left stranded.
…

Kevin's father criticised British Airways for paying just five nights in a hotel, where in the end they spent 13 days. He said the carrier has yet to refund their tickets.
...
A BA spokesman said: 'We will always try to accommodate someone if it's possible and safe to do so.
'Our customer service team worked diligently to find a solution and have exhausted all options.

'Unfortunately it is not possible to safely accommodate the customer on any of our aircraft and the family has been offered a full refund.

'The British Airways team has been in regular contact with the family, providing guidance and support as well as exploring other options for travel. BA has also provided hotel accommodation throughout.'
...”

.. just when he thigh he was home and dry …

'Too Fat To Fly' Frenchman Banned From Eurostar

Quote:
“A 32-stone man refused a flight from the US by British Airways is now stranded in the UK after Eurostar said he was too heavy.
…
Mr Chenais and his parents were met at Heathrow by French consular staff who arranged for them to try for a Paris-bound Eurostar train later on Tuesday.

But Eurostar then said he had been refused travel because of its regulations for evacuation procedures.

"His weight meant that we would not be able to take care of this person or be able to carry him to evacuate him," a spokeswoman said.

She added that Eurostar did not have any specific weight limit, but each train has two places for disabled or limited mobility people and the train's staff had to be capable of getting each of those people out in case of emergency.”

It may not be PC but they possibly have a point.

Did the Jelly Wallace thing really happen or is it myth? I've never seen a clip of it.

Yes they do - health and safety (in this case, sensible) comes first. But does make you wonder seeing as Britih Airways flew him to the US in the first place.

I feel sorry for the chap because it's not his fault he's like he is. If you put Mark beside him, Mark is tall, willowy and sylph-like - just like me.

Maybe he gained extra weight due to his treatment in the US?

I guess it comes down to how large a person can reasonably, and safely, be manhandled by two or three cabin crew in an emergency.

One idea that springs to mind would be the military to step in and lend a hand (or several) as they would have plenty of fit manpower available. They would also be used to dealing with heavy items albeit equipment rather than people and possible less averse to a bit of managed risk.

Maybe the French airforce could have arranged to fly him home.
