I hope some of you can help me.

First of all I should say that I'm looking for a budget tablet for my 2 and a half year old daughter therefore it doesn't need to be anything spectacular.

All I need it to do is to be able to download apps (the kids ones), have Wi fi and be able to watch you tube (for Peppa Pig and Ben and Holly etc.)

Before anyone says it I know about the leap pad and the V tech one but I cant help but think that my daughter will get bored of the games very quickly. She is a wiz at jigsaws and can do a 32 piece of Mr Tumble straight out the box in about 10 minutes. (puts me to shame)

Anyhow, has anyone got any suggestions? I've seen this on ebay and was wondering if it was any good...

I don't want to spend a fortune because she is still at the terrible two stage and despite her intelligence she can still throw a massive tantrum (or a tablet)

anyway, the tablet you've linked to would be fine for what you want it for. most low priced tablets also subsequently have a fairly low spec, but this doesn't mean they're useless at youtube or video playback - often it's their strongest feature.

if you were looking to be able to have a lot more of the modern games, you'd ideally be looking at 1gb of ram and a dual core processor, but for what you need it for, i'd say the one on ebay would be fine, although a game like angry birds would likely lag a bit.

however .. for a smaller 7 inch screen, there's also this on Amazon with a fairly similar spec for around £39 quid delivered

Thanks for that and yes im ready for the grummpy oldies to say that "we only had a spinning wheel at the age of two" and all the rest.

The thing is toys have moved on.

My daughter is quite intelligent for her age and as much as she likes playing on her scooter or making tea parties she also likes watching silly pictures of cats on you tube and when she goes to bed she likes watching peppa.

My only concern is the 512 mb of ram on these cheaper tablets. Is that enough to watch you tube and play games?

Before you decide I would suggest you check out you local CEX to see before you buy. They have a large stock of used tablets.

As I said, Youtube will be fine. Games-wise, it will depend really on what you get.

Graphically intensive games will probably lag quite badly. The more simplistic games should be ok.
