HTC 'text message threads' - can I cancel them?
Whenever I get a text from someone it adds onto the leat text I made to them and so on until there is a long column that needs to be scrolled up and down. Most of these texts are on unrelated matters so the way it is laid out does not help.
Is there a way of just having one text at a time on the screen like in an older phone? I have looked in the settings but can't find this. This is for the One and Desire C. Thanks for any help. |

I suppose it all depends what Soundbox means by "unrelated matters". It's possible to get apps that can switch between Inbox (where messages are sorted by date/time) and threaded view (where they are sorted by Sender)
I don't know of any apps that try to group messages by the content of the message. However, smartphones have search that will show matching messages so you could search for texts that discuss something. So you could search for Gym, say, and then use threaded view to see the rest of the conversation with that person or Inbox view to see other texts at that time. |

Beauty of Android is you can replace the messaging app with an alternative that displays messages in any way you want, including upside down or back to front.
That said if old messages are getting in your way, delete them. I don't see any disadvantage from having messages listed in chronological order, they always have on every phone. |

Thanks for the input.
The major problem with the way they are at the moment is that it is easy to miss someones message as if they have sent a few while the phone is unnatended then the messages are all lumped together - read and unread. 99 times out of 100 it is easy to see what texts have not been read but last week I missed a really important one by it not being clear that it had not been read. Shame the unread texts are not bold or red or something to tell you to look. |
