What do you think was the best song of 1900 - 1999?

Personally i'd have to say bohemian rhapsody.

Though i'd accept others.

What's your favourite?

Britney Spears - Hit Me Baby (One More Time)

Absolute milestone in 90s music imo

probably the beatles - 'tomorrow never knows' as it was/is still one landmark track that employed 7 new techniques that had never before been tried out, and whos influence in opening up new avenues is immense.

Wow, too big a question to pick one.
Here's a few contenders.

Johnny B. Goode (Chuck Berry)
Over The Rainbow (Judy Garland)
Mack The knife (Bobby Darin)
Respect ( Aretha Franklin)
I heard it through the GrapeVine (Marvin Gaye)
No Woman, No Cry (Bob Marley)
The Times they are a-Changing (Bob Dylan)
Danny Boy (?)
Like a Rolling Stone (Bob Dylan)
One (U2)
Imagine ( John Lennon)
What's Going on ( Marvin Gaye)
Billie Jean (Michael Jackson)
A Day In the Life ( The Beatles)
Je ne Regrette rien (Edith Piaf)
Good Vibrations (The Beach Boys)
Bittersweet Symphony ( The Verve)
Will you still love me tomorrow? (The Shirelles)
You've lost that loving Feeling ( The Righteous Bros)

Prince - When Doves Cry, pure masterclass in how to write a good song, and no bass line.

If I were to pick one, It would be 'Imagine' by John Lennon.
The 20th Century was the first century in which Man created the capacity to destroy the world, Lennon's is the perfect artistic response.

There is no best song. We all have our own individual tastes.

I have several favourites all falling between the years 1954 and 1983. Far too many to list, but I can tell you that "Bohemian Rhapsody" (which I find OTT and pretentious) by Queen (who I consider to be incredibly overrated) is not one of them.

I am also very appreciative of many of the songs from the first half of the century by the great American songwriters like Cole Porter, Rodgers and Hart, Jerome Kern and George Gershwin.

As for songs from 1984 to 1999, not for me I'm afraid, and don't get me started on 21st Century music!

Not saying this is the best song at all, but one of my fav songs that I never get tired of hearing is Ghost Town by The Specials, I remember we had the riots at the time and that song gave me goosebumps and still does

Redemption Song.

Maybe. The question is too hard. I'm fairly sure it's not by Britney Spears though.

That is so hard to answer and it is all about opinions so there's no official best song but my favourites are
Madonna-Like A Prayer
Michael Jackson - Smooth Criminal
John Lennon - Imagine
Queen- Bohemian Rhapsody
Pet Shop Boys- Rent
Prince- When Doves Cry
Oasis-Wonderwall

The list could go on and on

These 2 songs in particular are timeless. And I can identify with people who think Good Vibrations is the best thing the Beach Boys have done, even though Do It Again is my official favourite song of all-time!
