I have never been a big Leona fan, but listening to that snippet she sounds brilliant - love that song though

I don't know a lot about opera music but it sounds really good to me. Not too keen on the rest of the covers on the album though. The originals sound nice though.

LOL yes off course that is the gorgeous @leonalewismusic singing Ave Maria. Possibly the best vocal I've ever recorded. Time stood still.

Confirmed by the producer.

It's unbelievable, when I first heard it I literally was left open mouthed, I genuinely never expected her to sound that good when I first heard she was singing this.

She sounds lovely. I know nothing of Opera though, so I hope it's as 'critically' good as it sounds (if that makes sense).

Sounds amazing. She did train in opera though so it's not surprising she is good at it.

well we know Maria can sing the sh*t out of anything opera, this thread is more to the point of Leona hasn't really done anything operatic and it's astounding she had this in her lol

Callas has a gorgeous voice though

Exactly this.

What is remarkable to me is that Leona can sing Ave Maria so beautifully in a classical style and she can sing effectively in other styles too. Most classically trained singers that I've heard sing popular music as if it were a classic. It is unusual to be able to switch between styles so well.

This is exactly my view as well. It's rare that Leona is capable of conquering both the pop/modern style and the classical operatic style, the only other "pop" artist I've seen capable of this is Nicole Scherzinger. It just cements Leona's vocal talent that she can do this. Incredible.

Her diction and technique is so different in her operatic voice, it's remarkable that she is capable of switching styles like that, I agree.

Charlotte Church and Vanessa from The Saturdays managed it....I don't think it is that unusual.

it is quite noticeable that when other musical groups for example ( brass bands ) try to do Big Band It rarely works well because top brass bands are principally geared to play ( as written ) note perfect and exact , whereas obviously big bands Swing

It`s a totally different situation and i guess this might apply to many singers too
a classical singer trying to go pop etc will sometimes sound stiff and ( uncomfortable ) and vice verse a pop singer trying to do Classical without Good training would most likely find it hard

I expected Leona Having Trained in Opera to do a great job but to still be easily (identifiable )as Leona`s Voice

Wow I was shocked to see it Confirmed The Ave Maria is Leona I was convinced someone had found a top Opera singer and posted that up !
Leona Has delivered both Styles perfectly ! I would love to Hear Leona Doing more opera

Oh! and of course use more Horns in The future as well

Her voice is absolutely stunning on this track but while there is no doubt that Leona sings this song beautifully, I would prefer it if she did not release a classical album in the near future.

The full song will apparently be simply divine.

Listening to @leonalewismusic's Christmas With Love for a few days now and it's stunning. The vocal performance on Ave Maria is INCREDIBLE!
Just wait until you hear the full version of Ave Maria. Leona taking that voice to a whole other level!!!

The link in the opening post doesn't seem to work, so here is a new one:
http://gamore.altervista.org/qualche...i-leona-lewis/.

There are other snippets from the album in there. "Ave Maria" is the last one of them.
