kindle Fire HDX 7"
Has anyone bought or tried the new kindle yet? Seems very quiet considering the noise made with the release of the Hudl.

Well I think both sizes of the HDX screen match the Nexus 7 for having the highest quality screen available.
Its just happens to be restricted solely to the Amazon app and media stores. |

Special offer just for today, it's £169 on Amazon or £159 at Curries with cash back.

These new Amazon tablets have good spec hardware but I'm just not interested in any device with such a locked down operating system. It would have to be a Hudl for me.

A main reason to choose the Fire is to select its highly curated (Culled) apps store.
Less choice means a bit less malware. |

The processor and PPI seem on par with the 2013 Nexus 7.

The 'noise' for the Hudl came from it being cheap...
It could turn into being the UK's number one car GPS . |

Had a try out of the 8.9 " HDX in Waterstones today. Must say I was very impressed. It's a great size and has a quality build. It's just the £330 price that is stopping me going for it. Considering the 7" version with the same spec's is £199.

The term 'Swiss Army Knife' has been bandied around quite a bit.
But despite the very top quality screen, the Kindles are another one with a fair set of those tool attachments missing. |

http://www.knowyourmobile.com/amazon...n-lot-7-inches
The HDX 7 review states "I love the look and feel of the 7-inch Kindle HDX a lot more than I do the 8.9-inch model. It just feels “right” in the hand" ....."I don’t think that lock out is as limiting on the 7-inch model. That’s because those that buy this model, or gift this model, probably aren’t heavy tablet users. " So reading between the lines it really says of the two, 'get the 8.9'. |

I've just bought a kindle fire hd and love it. I also have an ipad mini and comparing the two I would say that the kindle has a much better sound and screen quality than the ipad - even better than the retina display mini. Colours are richer and it justs sound so much louder and better.
I still love the ipad for various reasons but I think that if I were starting from scratch and using the Fire as i use the ipad then i would be more than happy with it. |

I have the kindle fire and my husband has the HD kindle fire. Both are great. HIs appears to be larger than mine, but I think that both are wonderful for anyone that loves to surf the net or read or wants something portable to take with them.

I have one for media use when travelling. Great little device, and easy enough to avoid the Amazon limitations if you ok with trying (instructions on the web are so simple even I understood them)
