How dare you.
I live in beautiful Lytham St Anne's. It's a lovely place by the sea.

I lived in Whitechapel in London when I was in my twenties. I was glad to get home to the North!

That's not good publicity for the Tower - bet they'll have better security next year. The girls must be fuming about it.

still say it's an inside job they are believed to have used the tunnels to avoid cctv only staff would know about them and how they link to other sites in Blackpool probably Winter Gardens

Fefster you evidently have not been to Harrogate. THAT is posher, richer and much more attractive than many towns in the south.

Is the south riddled with the ignorant and rude?

At least I ask rather than assume.

I remember someone from down South being surprised that you could be up on remote moors within minutes of my home in a large Lancashire town.

just to add my twopenneth about the North people who have these perceptions of it have usually never been - there are lovely places all over the North too -- though used to this sort of thing coming from Liverpool papers only show one side yet people don't realise that it has more Georgian Terraces than Bath and Cheltenham added together and the most listed buildings outside London

Better than Brighton that is full of pensioners. And it does not even have sand on the beach.

Insurance to buy new does not guarantee 'no sleepless nights'. Who is to say what sentimental value the items were or the importance of the content on the ipad. Having your privacy violated is not assuaged by a refund.

I had a CD/Radio stolen from my old VW Polo twice (lock broken in one case, back side window broken in the other). Both incidents were covered by insurance but both left their mark in the shock of the incident and that indefinable loss of personal security that drags you down bit by bit.

Some of the items stolen may be irreplaceable.

Don't under estimate the effect of these incidents.

Nothing wrong with the north of England. I live in the south now due to husbands job some 27 years ago. I know where I would rather be and it isnt in the south.
We knew all our neighbours, welcomed new ones to the area and talked to everyone. In a crisis a neighbour would be on hand to help out or look after the kids or whatever was needed.
When we moved south we were treated like illegal immigrants. Even now we only know around 6 of the families who live around us. The rest just dont want to know. So unfriendly. Try talking to people in shop queues and they act as if I am crazy or something. They dont know what they are missing - if you dont know your neighbours how will you cope in a crisis?
Seems to just be around the London area though. My best friend came originally from Plymouth and she has had the same experience.

As a Southerner, I will say that many in the South are quite rude and very unfriendly...my best memories are from the many peoples I have met over the years from the North...also, some beautiful countryside.

I personally reckon it was an insider break-in...someone with knowledge of those tunnels...shame really..

The trouble with threads like this is you get people getting on their high horse when someone makes disparaging comments about where they come from and then go on to make the exact same disparaging comments about another part of the country.

Also if people are going to complain about how rude people who come from X are they'll have more credibility if they express their opinion in a civil manner. At the end of the day there is good and bad everywhere.

That's if they return next year. The tower ballroom is beautiful, but the rest town is an absolute hovel of a place. It's not being insulting to the North saying that, Blackpool is a shit tip and has been for the past 20 years or so.

The worst thing that place ever did was to actively encourage the stag and hen parties, driving away the families and pensioners who used to go there.

I thought it was obviously a ridiculous comment, done on purpose to over exaggerate the grain of truth within.
I forget that people get their knickers in a twist over stuff like that.

The plot thickens. It really spoils my enjoyment of seeing them dance in Blackpool.
