Nothing wrong with the north of England. I live in the south now due to husbands job some 27 years ago. I know where I would rather be and it isnt in the south.
We knew all our neighbours, welcomed new ones to the area and talked to everyone. In a crisis a neighbour would be on hand to help out or look after the kids or whatever was needed.
When we moved south we were treated like illegal immigrants. Even now we only know around 6 of the families who live around us. The rest just dont want to know. So unfriendly. Try talking to people in shop queues and they act as if I am crazy or something.

They dont know what they are missing - if you dont know your neighbours how will you cope in a crisis?
Seems to just be around the London area though. My best friend came originally from Plymouth and she has had the same experience.
