Hah! Artem doesn't do it for me either, fantastic dancer though. If I had to choose, it would have to be Pasha.

The hair ficking is deffinately nerves, it maybe that people don't stop to notice with her, they see that girl doing that thing and don't watch, but it is very plain to see that it's all nerves. She rarely knows what to say in answer to questions put to her in the pit.She fits the term flabberghasted to a T lol.
which is probably why she is looked at as a lil dim, flakey and so on. For the most part , she is the total opposite of what is perceived.

Abbey is a seasoned reality TV performer.

She is a footballer's wife with a colourful history (don't really care) and she has been around the block.

She is also a model and has moved in the world for a LONG time.

She is NOT, what she tries to 'project' - little oooh dear innocent, ordinary me.'

She's not.

She actually CAN'T be. She's not Chelsea, she was really young and had an ACTUAL job too.

Abbey is giving the 'fifteen year ole lovely gal, salt of the earth ordinary but you know, pretty LOVES me baby' shtick.

And it is shtick.

She's more than that - she's an intelligent and seasoned tv person and persona.

I find her 'shtick' deeply, fundamentally annoying and rather fake.

It's part of her, the bit she WANTS you see. It ain't the whole truth though.

And the FACT that she puts across the 'ooooh I'm really real me, sweet, flicky, me baby, oooh.' actually makes me puke a bit.

And I am not fooled. I'd respect her a hell of a lot more if she didn't downgrade herself as a woman for more Reality TV APPEAL.

Personally.

She's a good dancer though - good, not great I'm afraid, seriously.

Im sorry just because someone's been around the block doesn't make them a bad person . Your saying because shes a footballers wife, a model and been on TV every thing you see is fake? SERIOUSLY??? and there is my point proved.

You may find niceness sickly sweet, but I don't perceive she tries to put that forward at all. Iv'e never seen an interview, paper article yet that's got her going down the Jordan route for instance.

I have a friend who people perceive the same, I call her a flake but she is actually the nicest person I know, she has no badness in her, You'd probably say shes too good to be true.
Some people are just like that...

I DON'T CARE that she's done all she's done.

I just DON'T BELIEVE that what she TRIES to portray about herself is actually WHAT she actually IS.

Which is MUCH cleverer and more manipulative and far more experienced than you obviously think.

But that's fine.

I don't necessarily think she's horrible, she's not, she's just NOT all that 'baby flicky, nervy, oooh, ickle' thing she's trying to SELL.

And that's her purpose, not that that IN ITSELF is awful, it's just bloody, seriously, horribly, annoying.

I haven't prejudged her. That she says amazing every few seconds and her head wobbles slightly if the slightest hint of a criticism with a vacant smile on her face is enough to put me off.

She might be the nicest person in the world and be more intelligent than she appears, but I don't like her based on what I have read and the way she comes across.
She will never meet me so it doesn't matter what I think though.

How do you know she's not that person? She seems pretty genuine to me. I do a lot of hair flicking when I'm nervous and I'm aware that it makes me look ditsy but I'm quite shy, and I just can't help it.

All this nastiness towards her smacks of jealousy (in my opinion)

'Vacant' is a little unkind but does strike a chord.

It's the life I've always wanted.

Highlighted this part of your post because I'd like to say im not some ditzy all girly, dress swishing idiot. far from it, im probably a hard faced bitch truth be known. Obviously we have very differing opinions, but I can say with honesty I don't believe she is the superficial bint people make her out to be.

I also didn't say she wasn't a savvy lass who knows how to get what she wants, I have no doubt a few flicks of the eyelash and people are putty in her hands. what I am saying is if you watch her you can see a genuine reaction. That reaction isn't what people perceive.

Absolutely agree. She's got nothing to say so fills in space with little silly mannerisms, believing that noone will see the space between the ears.

It's obvious that you recognise, and acknowledge her 'schtick'.

And I'm not saying that she is not 'genuine' completely.

I think she is PLAYING it.

And whereas you approve of her 'shtick' and see her as genuine.

I don't.

I can see where Rhumba's coming from.

I found Chelsee naturally very sweet and charming and endearing. There was an innocence about her that felt genuine.

Sometimes I feel like Abbey tries a bit too hard to be those things because she's realised from experience that it's an effective way to come across on reality tv. It's as if she's developed a persona that she slips into effortlessly and specifically for shows like this.

I think she's very smart, and there's a steeliness there - nothing really wrong with those qualities. But own them like say, Susanna does, don't pretend to be something else. I'm just not buying the whole cutesy thing.

I totally respect that other people view Abbey differently though. And I think she's a good dancer and that she and Aljaz make a strong team. But personality-wise I'm not a fan. Sorry.

I have quite a few people in this thread on ignore already so I wouldn't know what they said BUT,

I just wanted to say that you're never going to make some people see some things or some individuals the way they are especially when they already have their preconceived notions and very narrowed views about them ; it's like beating over a dead horse really lol so keeping going back and forth between them isn't going to change anything. Best is just to move on really imo ......shrug.......

I can totally understand and acknowledge opinion that doesn't reflect my own, and to a point argue the difference. I guess in the end I was looking to see if anyone else saw what I did. they have, so im not on my own there. I reckon that's what its all about in the end been in the forum and posting. taking the rough with the smooth

Excellent post Sid. It's why Susannah doesn't irritate me, she's who she is, that's it, you can like it or not. I like her.

I like Sophie for her straightforwardness too.

But if people like Abbey, fine, just don't expect everyone to.

Edy, do yourself a favour and stop going on about how you've got so many people on ignore.

I, personally just don't think you know what posts you're answering, so you don't know what the hell you're talking about.

Of course she is that person, in part but she is also a lot of other parts of personality too.

She has been on RTV for cracking on for 10 years - she knows what works and what part of her personality to highlight and what parts to play down. It's her job.

She has a backbone - she must have. You don't survive being glossy magazine and tabloid fodder for both good and bad and having your dirty laundry aired on the front pages without and and you don't keep entering competitions if you're not competitive - but that's her job, too.

Which is fine. Of course she is as shown on the show - but she is also more and it's a shame that the most interesting parts get lost in the part she found was a popular one at 19.

It's fine not to like someone. I do like her but that's more to do with something she was on eons ago about trying to make it as a model.

She was very much the same then as she is now. I have noticed she doesn't seem to congratulate the other contestants as much as the others and she does lack the warmth and pragmatism of Sophie but for all this i still like her.

Flip the coin for Natalie. I find her very difficult to like and for that reason can't enjoy her dancing as much as I should.
