I'd like to see Ashley win, to my mind he never gets the credit that less able dancers get from the judges - and yes Ben, I do mean you.

Can't see him winning & in all honesty I will be a little surprised if he makes the final. Of those left I would only be really confident that he could beat Mark or Ben in a dance off.

He's middle of the pack in terms of scores & I suspect that's where he is votes wise as well.

If either of the two dances from either guy in the semis are sub-par it'll give the judges every excuse to score Ashley too low down whereas with Patrick they'll still say it's fabulous (well Darcey will) and put Ashley in danger on the leaderboard and then that also puts him in danger coming to the public vote whereas I do think Patrick does have quite a sizable fanbase - I mean I remember how fab he was doing Riverdance with Lisa Maxwell for Sport Relief (or Comic Relief - I can't remember which now)”

I dont think Patrick has a sizeable fan base, he was in the dance off. However, if this forum is anything to go by, his fan base is growing, although since his bottom 2 place he has been higher up the leaderboard and not so reliant on the public vote, so hard to know what is really happening for him.

In a Patrick/ Ashley DO, the judges would save Patrick, so he might be knocked out that way. If he can avoid the DO, he could make the final, as he might get enough votes at semi final stage to get through. Semi final to final- are done without a DO, and are on public vote, and judges combined.

I'd be disappointed if he didnt make the final

As I've said previously there always seems to be one contestant each year who has to work for their marks rather than contestants who get the marks regardless.

Last year it was Dani Harmer, this year it's Ashley.

True that Patrick was in the D/O but I really do think that was down to the preparation for the dance and the music itself. I don't think Wings by Little Mix was the best for a Salsa and then everything with the hand just didn't help. It didn't seem to be Patrick's week.

I also agree that Patrick would be saved by the judges in a D/O - for one judge in particular all Patrick would have to do is put one foot in front of the other and they would save him. Ashley could be step perfect and it still wouldn't matter.

I'd be very disappointed if he doesn't make it to the final but I do hope that the footage we saw in last weeks' VT for Ashley does mean his storyline is coming to a bit of a climax meaning he wouldn't be due back on set for the proper resolution until the new year.

I honestly have a feeling he'll be fine with that though.

We will soon see

That's your opinion and I respect that.

What I don't like about Ben (and Ashley has been guilty of doing/being told to do) this is using the body to create a better dance/atmosphere/garner more favour with the judges.

Both have proven that neither of them need to do this!

I think the competitions wide open this year with a number of couples that could win including Ashley and Ola - so yes they could win.

In light of recent comments I notice that I haven't directly answered the question myself.

My answer is yes.

The reason?

They're still in the competition just as are Susanna and Kevin, Natalie and Artem, Abbey and Aljaz, Sophie and Brendan, Patrick and Anya, Ben and Kristina and Mark and Iveta ....

... all of whom stand just as much a chance of Ashley and Ola of winning.

Sure some couples stand more chance than others but writing a couple scoring 35 off at the half way point is harsh. They can still go up whereas other couples can just as easily go down.

Patrick is the clear favourite imho. Natalie will be there because she is a trained dancer, but she will NEVER get the votes to win no matter what she does. Her previous training is just an insult to the show and the public will prove it when it comes to a vote.
Susanna and Ashley are a close second, but Abbey is still stuttering a bit as is Sophie.

I agree. He's a good dancer. But he's so dull. We need to see more personality in his dances and off camera.

Not impossible but unlikely...as it stands, the momentum is with Susanna and KFG. And the public vote I suspect. Mind you, I had the most bizarre dream that had Ashley winning and Mark second! Weird how dreams can be so vivid and yet daft.

I'd love them to win. He's getting better all the time, so yes, it's possible in my opinion.
