Is T Mobile really as bad as everyone says?

I'm in London & I figure as they've merged their network with Orange, the coverage should be ok.

I've seen a really good deal that I'm tempted by...

But I know their customer services are lousy.

T-Mobile isn't bad.

The only way to find out if they work for you though is through using a pay as you go SIM with them for a couple of days or so.

Who exactly is this "everyone" you're talking about? I don't think I've met them.

I've been with them since the One2One days and other than the usual service outages now and again, I've found them very good. Since the merger I've found I have pretty much blanket coverage, even here in Norfolk.
Overseas customer services is another matter of course, but that's now pretty much normal - unfortunately.

No problems with T-Mobile. Not needed to contact CS but near blanket 3G, rarely drops to EDGE or GPRS. I do a lot of outdoors stuff and amazed that in some far out places there is still an H on the data indicator. Plenty of lone 2G Orange masts still on in this area though so hopefully 3G will be added in due course.

What overseas coverage?! Their advisors were always telling me how they were based in 'Bristol' whilst trying to mask their accents..

I've been using them for mobile broadband on/off for more than a year. Other than their customer service being the worse I've ever dealt with they've been alright.

A few weeks, things went tits up for about a week not one response about the error when contacting them on facebook no refund.

This would be my only complaint I've got, they've been pretty much solid for most of my time with them; and there FUP is so easy bypass just by installing tor and streaming youtube videos, even torrents work with 2/mbs speeds at night.

Sadly for them they've now lost custom through there appalling customer service and the fact I did not get refunded the 5 days of mobile broadband I lost out on.

What made move from T-Mobile to a fixed broadband line with Talk-talk I don't know. I really can't work how they got me..... Lets hope there not as bad there made out to be.

I was told that TM was the budget brand of EE ? But I think that when you are out of area your phone will switch between orange and t mobile . Certainly will work Ok no issues .

Customer service from T-Mobile (EE) is lousy. I will be leaving when my contract is up (unfortunately I just recently started a two year term). Plus the junk texts from affiliates is annoying and they don't share recent updates - try being around renewal.

Plus, it's the only company I know increase prices during a contract term. Not for VAT like all did because that was external - at least on all new contracts it can't happen for or you can break the contract and leave.

I have found T mobile to be the best overall out of all networks I have tried. For internet, them and Three cannot be beaten for coverage.

You are right, they are not bad, but really really awful.

Network coverage is now utterly dreadful, and their customer services... Unbelievably bad. Sticking pins in your eyes would be more enjoyable.

Every network has done it within the last two years.

In my experience T-Mobile used to be excellent then they merged with Orange and started EE and it became very poor with calls going to voicemail when the phone is on and poor customer service also putting up prices and charging a premium price for a non premium product. I left them last year but still have family on them who are all leaving at thy end of their contracts.

Saying that if I had to choose between the brands of Orange and T-Mobile I would choose T-Mobile as even though they're the same company, the Orange customer services are far poorer. But if you want Orange Wednesdays then Orange is the best bet.

Thanks to everyone who's replied, it's really helpful!

The feedback is conflicting so I don't know what to do.

I recently bought a Samsung S4 Mini, and I'm looking at a T Mobile SIM only contract for 500MB, good text & call allowance for £4 after cashback. Bargain!

But possibly too good to be true...

I read about them putting prices up mid-contract, but when I spoke to various retailers they said that actually all networks are free to do that & have done so.

Theoretically, the merger of Orange & T Mobile should mean improved coverage? Did you find that was the case?

Do you know why the calls went to voicemail when your phone was on?

I used to be on Orange & found their customer services fine. Then I moved to Vodafone which was about the same, and now am considering T Mobile solely because the deal is so cheap. But I don't know if it's worth it...

From 23rd January operators will no longer be able to increase prices during the minimum term of any contract.
