Line of the night. For me the 'relationship' between Brendan and Sophie is becoming more interesting than the actual competition. Wouldn't you love to be a fly on the wall? I have maintained from an early stage that there has been something stopping Sophie progressing as she clearly has the basic talent to be taught to a decent level whatever the dance. For some reason that hasn't happened. I initially thought the problem lay with Sophie but now I am not so sure.

I do believe Brendan is in every danger of disappearing up his own arse. To wind mild, gentle Sophie up takes some doing I would imagine. I immediately felt a tiny bit of sympathy for Pendledrama and no wonder she was permanently in tears biting her tongue over his ego. That said I think he means well he just has a touch of the James Jordan's sometimes.

At the risk of turning this into a Brendan bashing thread (yet again), I thought Brendan deserved to have his wrist slapped by Sophie there. I mean, it was beyond patronising to speak of their celebs like this.

Naughty Brendan! *smacks*

I don't think there is any problem in the relationship. They act like a fond brother and sister toward each other. In fact Sophie's comment demonstrated how at ease they are with each other if anything.

That's how I interpreted it too. Brendan came out with something silly.....I'm sure he thought it sounded daft as soon as it left his lips....and Sophie joked back. I laughed. And moved on.

The partnership is simply not one. There is no chemistry between them at all. The problem with Sophie is Brendan. It's as simple as that.
He's so competitive, so driven and, dare I say, arrogant these unlikable traits supersede everything. His ego is the third person in their relationship. She probably finds it very difficult being taught by him.
I know its easy to say but I'm sure we'd see a different side to her if she'd been paired with someone else.

They have a good relationship but her dancing is starting to sink to Pendlemania levels I am sorry to say.

It amused me too. All that was missing was the FFS before it

It was a bit of a sibling banter, but Sophie did do a furtive eyeroll there, love her even more now! She's already my fav this week!

Starting? Really? Did you see their QS? Victoria will turn into a sponge doing that!

I have absolutely no idea about their relationship and (I'd hazard a guess) neither does anybody else on this forum. Sophie has a dry wit, as she's demonstrated with other comments both on the main show and on It Takes Two. To my mind, it sounded as if she was irritated at being referred to as a 'girl' when Brendan was gushing about the pro dancers 'looking after their little girls' in a rather patronising way.

I hate it when men refer to grown women as 'girls' and probably Sophie does, too. Doesn't mean to say they don't get on otherwise, though.

Grown women referred to men (slightly younger than them) as boys too. Zoe is one such case.

That's how I saw it. It shows that they are good friends when they can banter like that.

They've got a very good, friendly, relaxed relationship and Brendan seemed very pleased with her performance last night.

Never really been able to take to Brendan. He's too arrogant for me, although he's not as bad as used to be to be fair.

I think last week someone posted an interview with Sophie (a fairly recent interview too) and she said she was happy to be paired with Brendan. But of course we are living in a cynical world, and I was slated for taking the interview at face value.

I think she's a lot calmer than she was and she certainly very popular amongst the SCD family.

And when they call them little boys it is just as patronising.

Same here, those who dislike Brendan, and want there to be trouble between them, will see what they want to see. I just saw it as a little joke between them.

she shouldn't have reminded viewers of her age as no female celeb over 30 has won since s1 iirc

Well, you can't blame him

By the way, it reminds me of a colleague at work who calls women "darling" all the time (in an almost Blackadder kind of way). Very cringeworthy and the ladies in question are not exactly impressed by it

Oh gawd - one of my brothers calls everyone sweetheart.. I get so embarrassed and feel like yelling `how on earth do you know they're sweet`!!! Really annoys me because he thinks he's being so charming and he sounds a prat tbh

Brendan was about to start one of his nauseating, moist eyed "I'm so proud...." speeches. He condescendingly called Sophie "His little girl." People at home cringed. Sophie rolled her eyes and cut him off with a "I'm 34 Brendan." It was their best moment since the Charleston.
