Coincidence or TPTB ??
Steve9214

I admit to over-analysing - or just seeing amazing coincidences in some things, but reflecting on some of the exits so far this year...

Deborah - sends a tweet saying she and Robin are safe on a Saturday - eliminated the following week.

Karen has widely reported blazing row with Ola during group dance rehearsals - eliminated the following week.

Anton - talks over Tess during her pieces to camera, (she has to shut him up live on air) - eliminated same week.

Random happenings?
...or are the Producers clamping down ?

Are you suggesting that TPTB are ordering the judges to score in a particular way or are fiddling the public vote figures?

I feel the LEVEL of orchestration of events in Strictly have increased over the years.

This year feels worse, but then I said that last year.

It's all more 'streamlined' and 'organised' I think. I hate it, and I don't actually think I'm nuts to.

Just said on another thread this season's run in has the markings of Lisa, Rachel and Tom where come hell or high water the judges appeared to have an inordinate liking for Lisa Snowdon even if the public didn't.

Every year somebody lets the cat out of the bag on Twitter.
Every year there's some gossip about backstage bickering (although usually between pro and celeb partner rather than between the pros)
Every year Anton talks over everybody else.

Plus ça change....

There's orchestration, clearly, but not for the reasons in the OP. Those are just coincidences, I think.

Both are probable - not just possible. The producers also probably pre-script the judges comments.

SCD is ratings driven, professionally planned to the minute details and is a pantomime not a rigorous dance competition. Accept it as it is.

After everything that's gone on I can't see anyway the Beeb would fiddle the public vote.

The judges bring got at wouldn't surprise me but not for Anton talking over Tess.

(Apparently Strictly was going to be called Cookie Come Dancing but it was thought that would actually give Hairy Dave a chance.)

Well, the BBC are on record as saying that they like to, "navigate viewers."

I'd never accuse the BBC of fixing a vote, but I wouldn't put it past them to make, "a few suggestions that might help the success of the show" to the very well paid judges, who no doubt look forward to their contracts being renewed when they're up for re-negotiation.
