People have said he's gay for years and Matthew is well aware that because he's camp he's presumed as gay, but he's never been bothered about the speculation and always said he's straight (though has said he has a man crush on Rylan). He recognises his campness and effeminacy but said he's perfectly comfortable in his sexuality and that being camp doesn't equate with being gay (just as being masculine doesn't equate being straight).

I think Matthew will be interesting viewing. He's not shy of having a strong opinion and can easily shut someone up if he's had enough of them (my dad thinks he's a dictator because he sometimes ignores and shuns opposing opinions to his) lol.

I think he's a helluva lot tougher than what he's been shown to be so far. Same for Joey.

Nothing against either of them, but we know how the editing goes on these shows and it's the first night, so they've got to give us something to get our teeth in to kick it off.

A couple of weeks ago he continually referred to his hatred of spiders, even suggesting the one in his bath stopped him and his Mrs from using it for 5 Weeks!!

I don't think he's being fake at all. Especially the campness, he's always had that.

To be honest I think he's the most interesting person in there so I hope he lasts a while!!

To be fair I've heard him talk about his spider phobia a number of times over the years. It's not a recent thing.

I like him. He can be a bit rude and arrogant on his show but so what. And being camp doesn't mean your gay. He's always acknowledged his campness, it's not like he cares. I hope he sticks around for the long run.

He's the only (vaguely) interesting person.

Well I only know three people out of this cast (Matthew included). So I would say at least one out of the three of them that will be interesting for me.

I've watched many a Wright Stuff and I can tell you dramatic is Matthew's normal setting. It's not fake.

Just putting it out there but once they are settled in camp and the elements start, I can see Matthew being amazing for confrontation/arguments.

I don't think he's faking it. He had dark rings round his eyes after the first challenge suggesting to me he was absolutely petrified.

The rings around his eyes were from the safety goggles. I can't believe how camp he is!

I did laugh when he was left when the red team picked Amy.

To be honest with you, I think it's rather silly to pitch into one contestant at this early stage. If so, it's a big gamble and definitely a watching through the fingers one every night.
