Hello all soapies! This is a soap opera I have been planning and writing for a couple of weeks now. Unlike some of the other soaps going on on here at the minute, all of the characters have been entirely created by me. However, there will be oppurtunities to add characters as the show progresses.

ITV commisions new soap opera
ITV have today confirmed that they will begin airing a new soap opera from early next month.

The soap opera - called Through The Keyhole - will be set in a fictional borough of London called Hywall. Hywall is described as being a 'bustling markettown in the middle of London, hiding plenty of dark secrets that will slowly be unraveled.'

The official press release for the show read:

"Joining our two succesful soap operas that currently air is Through The Keyhole, a soap that is set in London and will see residents of fiction borough Hywall's lives play out on screen for the enjoyment of the viewers watching at home.

Through The Keyhole will air on Monday-Thursday at 8PM most weeks, with the schedule likely to change for sporting events and other big events.

The cast has been decided, the storylines planned, so sit back and relax as Through The Keyhole will be coming to your screens shortly."

The cast will be revealed over the coming days, so make sure you keep your eyes peeled.

Thank you, I hope you enjoy. With this, as I have created all of the characters, the backstories, the families etc I have a lot more control so the work you will see will be a true representation of what I want to show.

This looks really interesting and I like that you've chosen ITV, they really should be exploring London by now!

Thank you. I'm surprised ITV haven't explored London yet, it seems like such an obvious route for them to go down.

THREE IS THE MAGIC NUMBER | First family for 'Through The Keyhole' confirmed
The first family for ITV's new soap opera Through The Keyhole has been unveiled today.

The Jackson family - consisting of Dad Dwayne, Mum Bev and son Sonny will be at the heart of the drama for the first few months of the series.

An official press release for the family read:

"The Jackson family may look like your average family, but they are far from it. They've had to overcome racial adversity as well as having to overcome their bad reputation. Nothing seems to go right for the Jackson's - and that won't be changing anytime soon.

Bev is 'loud mouthed but caring' and is always picking up the pieces after her husband and her son. Her family is her main priority - but how much longer will she be able to cope with her disastrous family? Bev will be played by Sharlene Whyte - who has appeared in shows such as Tracy Beaker, Coronation Street and Waterloo Road.

Dwayne is your typical 'geezer'. He loves football and drinking and is known to have a temper. He is known to have a sharp tongue and is known to lash out when he doesn't gets own way. No matter what - he will always try to protect his family. Dwayne will be played by Patrick Robinson - who has starred in Casualty, The Bill and has even proven to be succesful on the dancefloor during his stint on Strictly Come Dancing.

Sonny is far from your average teenager, although it is no surprise as he comes from a far from average family. Sonny is often getting into trouble with the police for crimes such as fighting, shoplifting and vandalism. Sonny will be played by Joivan Wade - who has appeared in comedies Youngers and Bad Education."

Bosses are remaining tightlipped as to what the Jackson's big storyline will be - however have teased that the Jackson family won't be popular with their neighbours.

Great little article. I think Whyte was wasted on Waterloo Road so it will be good to see her in a different light. But it's a nice first family!

WOULD YOU ADAM AND EVE IT? | Second 'Through The Keyhole' family confirmed
The second family for ITV's new soap 'Through The Keyhole' has been confirmed - the first being the Jackson family that were announced yesterday.

The Earl family - consisting of Dad Johnny, and his three kids Gary and Danny, who are twins, and Mia. The Earl family is also made up of Johnny's ex wife and the children's mother Rosemary, and Johnny's new flame and stepmum to his kids Vanessa.

The official press release for the family read:

"Life for the Earl family is difficult enough as it is - Johnny's new wife Vanessa is finding it hard to be accepted by his kids, twins Gary and Danny are reaking havoc on the neighbourhood, and dappy daughter Mia is struggling to grasp the consept of adulthood. The kids mother (and Johnny's ex wife!) Rosemary isn't helping matters.

Dad Johnny is a 'traditional family man'. He runs the local pub, and although he is very traditional in his ways, his loveable rogue attitude makes him a hit with the locals. Johnny is played by Ralph Brown, who has appeared on both the big screen and the small screen, appearing in movies such as Alien 3.

A description on Vanessa will change depending on who you ask. Her husband Johnny thinks she is 'nice, sweet and caring', whereas Johnny's ex wife Rosemary describes her as being a 'golddigger'. Vanessa is yet to be accepted by Johnny's three kids, causing an awkward atmosphere for the Earl's. Vanessa is played by Zoe Lucker, who has appeared in programmes such as Footballers Wives, EastEnders and Waterloo Road.

Twins Danny and Gary are the troublemakers of Hywall. There schemes, although intended to be harmless, have previously endangered lives - including their own! They love the thrill of being caught by the police, and they don't plan on stopping any time soon. Danny is played by Jonathan Bailey, best known for his recent stint in Broadchurch, and Gary is played by Jules Knight, who has previously appeared in Casualty.

Mia is the youngest child of Rosemary and Johnny, and it certainly shows. Despite recently having turned 21, Mia is still quite childish and dopey. All three of the Earl men have one goal in life - to protect Mia from coming to any harm. Mia is played by Lauren Drummond - best known for her roles in Waterloo Road and Holby City.

Rosemary is the mother of Gary, Danny and Mia and the ex wife of Johnny. Rosemary is sticking around in Hywall for her kids - much to the annoyance of Johnny who is trying to move on with his life. Rosemary loves to meddle in Johnny's marriage to Vanessa - but her motives her currently unclear. Does Rosemary still love Johnny? Rosemary is played by Linda Robson - who is known for starring in Birds Of A Feather.

The Earl family are sure to be at the centre of the drama of Through The Keyhole, as they will be running the local pub.

It wasn't intentional. I think that the Waterloo Road cast members already announced are the only ones in the cast.

The next family will be confirmed at 10.

JUST THE TWO OF US | Third 'Through The Keyhole' family confirmed
The third family for ITV's brand new soap opera 'Through The Keyhole' has been confirmed - joining the Jackson's and the Earl's who have previously been confirmed.

The Williams family - consisting of Mother in law Kathy and daughter in law Stella - are said to be at the heart of the action.

An official press release for the family read:

"Stella has had a tragic few weeks in Hywall - her husband has been murdered and her nightmare mother in law is pressing her for answers, pushing Stella to breaking point.

Stella could once be described as being 'the life and soul of the party'. However, that has all changed in recent weeks as her husband was cruelly taken from her in a hit and run incident. Stella is struggling to cope with the loss of her husband - and her mother in law isn't making things easier. Stella is played by Christine Bottomley, best known for her roles in Early Doors and Heartbeat.

Kathy is Stella's 'nightmare mother in law'. Whereas Stella is very open with her grief, Kathy is putting up a much stronger front over the death of her son. Kathy has never liked Stella, and now that her son is dead she is convinced that Stella had more involvement then she is letting on. Kathy is played by Anne Reid, who has previously appeared in Coronation Street, Doctor Who and Last Tango in Halifax."

Producers have confirmed that the first episode will centre around the funeral of Stella's husband.

THIRD TIME LUCKY | Fourth 'Through The Keyhole' family confirmed
The fourth family have today been confirmed for ITV's brand new soap 'Through The Keyhole.

The Taylor family - consisting of Dad Rob, Mum Linda and son Will - have had a tough few years. Rob has cheated on his wife two times previously, and Linda has given their marriage a third, and final, chance. Will Rob be able to change his ways?

A press release for the family read:

"Rob is 'a snake'. He lies his way through life, which makes him the ideal candidate for his job - a used car dealer. Most importantly, he lies to his wife and son, who are foolish enough to forgiven him time and time again. Rob is played by Tom Lister - best known for playing bad boy Carl King in Emmerdale.

Linda is 'a doting family woman' - who doesn't suffer fools gladly. However, she does have one weakness - her husband. No matter what her husband has done, he will always find his way back into Linda's arms. Linda has had enough, and given her husband one last chance to prove himself. Linda is played by Denise Van Outen - known for her television presenting and role as Roxie Hart in Chicago.

Will is in his final year of sixth form - and has so far managed to avoid his Dad's lying trait. However, as they say 'the apple never falls far from the tree', and with Will recentlg getting a new set of friends, things may begin to change. Will is played by Miles Higson, known for his role as Seth Costello in Hollyoaks."

The Taylor family join the Jackson family, the Earl family and the Williams family as the families to be confirmed for Through The Keyhole.

Thank you Ross. The first episode will be up some time in the next week, I'm in the drafting stages now and I'm planning it to be an event, but without being sensationalist. Although the first time we will see the characters is in the first episode, it isn't the first time they've seen each other.

SINGH WHEN YOU'RE WINNING | Fifth family confirmed for 'Through The Keyhole'
The fifth family for ITV's brand new soap 'Through The Keyhole' have been confirmed.

The Singh family - consisting of Dad Ajay and his daughter Nina - are quite normal compared to the rest of the families currently confirmed for Through The Keyhole, however as with all soaps, everything is never as it seems.

An official press release for the family confirmed:

"Ajay is a loving, doting Dad. His daughter Nina is his rock and has been the only thing that's kept him going through a difficult few years. His wife died of cancer two years ago, his brother was killed in a car crash and his son has disowned him, blaming Ajay for his Mum's death. Ajay will be played by Bhasker Patel, best known for his role in Emmerdale.

Nina is a fun loving, larger than life character. Despite a difficult few years, Nina has remained strong for her father. Nina runs the local flower shop, and the bright coloured flowers are a reflection of her personality. Nina is played by Mina Anwar - best known for her roles in The Bill, The Sarah Jane Adventures and The Wright Way."

The sixth and final family will be confirmed tomorrow.
