Rude to the child and elder dancers in opening dance

In the opening dance on the Saturday show there were some child dance couples and elder dance coupons.
I may have missed it but until the Sunday show in the Claudia and Judges section there was no mention of who they were.
On the Sunday show they acknowledged the child dancers but they gave no indication if they were from a local dance group or anything. As for the elder dancers, they were just ignored, which was just plain rude.

All the dancers, young and old alike, were from Kevin's parents' dance school in Grimsby.

Ah. Thanks for the reply. A bit surprised then as I assumed that there would be some local dance school representation.
A mention of where they were from would have been nice and courteous.

They were fortunate to get the opportunity. Not being mentioned was definitely nowhere near rude.

The Cliftons are getting some great publicity as a result of Kevin being in SCD . Kevin's sister Joanne came over from Italy to dance in that opening sequence, which I didn't know . Must watch the opening number again to see if I can spot her .

Thanks for this info. That's really sweet.

I'm sure Zoe will feature an interview with the Cliftons on ITT next week. They're desperate for anything to fill a few minutes on that show.

Well I think that if the Cliftons did appear on ITT, they'd fill it better than some of the guests who have been on. That is, if Zoe Ball allows them to finish speaking.

A little a nod of thanks would'nt have gone amiss.

Rude? I'd have rather not had the twee nonsense of an opening and allocated their seats to the public.

They could have used the film they made of 'everyone' dancing around the fountain outside the television studio, as choreographed by Karen Hardy, instead of a second-rate live copy that didn't come off.

I loved the sequence, and judging by the feedback so did most people. I think it would have been good to know who they were. I assumed the older dancers were regular local tea dancers from the Tower Ballroom.

I think they should gave had a name check or credit. Hope they mention on Itt although they do so,entires have so,e bizarre content so hope they get this in!

I can well imagine that if much had been made of who they were at the time it could have had a negative impact on Kevin "unfair publicity etc".

Though I think it would have been good to mention it after it ceased to matter in terms of voting on the night i.e. during the results show.

I am not sure if all the dancers used where from cliftons. The reason i say this is i am from nr grimsby and until this yr my kids have danced and compeated in ballroom comps, the kids where in istd regulation dance costumes, which is what my kids compeated at. The clifton dance school where never st any of these comps as they teach another dance syllabus, cant rember think its isd but not sure lol, pain killer fog. Also there is not that number of boy dancers in this area at that age, in the dance comps that cover from her over to leeds and sometimes manchester, there are 5 boys in my sons level and maybe another 4 at a higher level, and i would say from the dancing level this was bronze and above from the style and finish. They where great dancers but i would be surprised if all the kids came from cliftons. I must say cliftons is a great school for ballroom and its great to see a local dance school get mentioned, just a shame that my boy is now 10 and stopped dancing due to being bullied at school and also losing practice time to homework.

If you look at their website they run classes in Grimsby and three other areas nearby, so maybe there were enough kids if some came from each class?

No it wasn't! They all had a brilliant moment in the spotlight - why do they need an individual name check? They, and their family and friends know who they are which is all that matters. I thought it was a great opening sequence - just as I really enjoyed the start of the results show. Well done SCD!

... or they've got a ginormous Kevin Cloning Machine in the cellar and they can turn them out to order?

Current pros better look out if that's true

Joanne has mentioned on Twitter that she was dancing with Brendan for the 'Ballroom Blitz' routine. I didn't spot her in the opening number, but I guess she might have been with the pros if that was the case.

There's a "pre-show hugs" photo of Susanna with Camilla on Susanna's twitter which clearly indicates that Camilla was performing also

I don't recall them mentioning her being there which seems odd to me.

It would be far more interesting than the dull wedding couple dance feature. I'm not wishing the happy couple any ill feeling, it's not personal, but I just find the whole event boring to watch.

That's very sad that your lad had to stop dancing - Patrick Swayze was apparently bullied at school due to doing ballet and then picked it up again later in life so maybe there's a chance he could go back to it.

I agree I quite liked the community atmosphere of it actually - it was a nice touch and set up the mood for the program nicer for me which was then ruined by the judges chronic over-marking.

I think the dancers were just happy to appear on tv in front of 11 million people. The support dancers for some of the routines weren't name checked either but I don't notice any faux outrage about that

Well they didn't acknowledge the extra backing dancers either that featured in the couple numbers and they're dancers as a career.
