Xtina's Bionic and Lotus albums
I really don't understand the condemnation Christina Aguilera received over her Bionic and Lotus albums, and their lack of success. I think both albums have some of her best ever songs on them and she's in top voice throughout. Sure there's some filler on the albums (it's rare when an album doesn't have ANY filler!) but how can people overlook such stunningly crafted and brilliantly sung ballads like You Lost Me, Lift Me Up, All I Need, Light Up The Sky, as well as great upbeat tracks like Birds Of Prey, Not Myself Tonight, Bionic, Red Hot Kinda Love, Your Body, Cease Fire, Just A Fool and many others. All these tracks are amongst her best ever work, imo. I also really like her much overlooked Burlesque soundtrack album, especially Express, her brilliant cover of Something's Got A Hold On Me and the stunning Bound To You. She may not be as commercially successful as she once was but it baffles me why, when she's still making music as top class as that which I've mentioned. Plus I've always loved her versatility. You can't get songs more different as Genie In A Bottle, Dirrty, Beautiful, Make Over, Candyman and You Lost Me! I don't care whether she's supposed to have bitchy personality or whatever - musically she's magnificent and mesmerising to listen to!

i don't care that she's suppose to be a b@$ch either, she's a singer and not a support worker. however, i do think it has affected her profile though and her record sales too unfortunately. at least, after two badly selling albums, she no longer has the label expectations that perhaps were a pressure before, but i would imagine her budget will be compromised accordingly and she may even be dropped if her dwindling sales continue.
i do think the standard of music has dropped as well unfortunately and that probably explains her commercial viability too. her recent material is by no means bad by any standard, but its not on par with the "stripped" period, but then, material like that must be impossible to keep delivering. i really think her vocals are mind blowing at times, so much power, but with believable passion. her versatility i agree, should be applauded and i do think her recent releases have been overlooked unfortunately. |

Flopina is Flopina. That said she seems to get it more than others who have flops. Beyonce's 4 didn't exactly set the world on fire. Britney Jean looks to flop as well, yet i doubt either will receive the same amount of nastiness that Xtina did.

There are a few songs that I skip but on the whole I think that it is a good pop album.

I got bored of Lotus after a week.
Its not great. I never got Bionic. I'm starting to wonder if maybe I should.. I still listen to stripped - classic album. I just think Christina needs a really really great song. Otherwise she will never sell decent figures. |

Had Bionic and Lotus had hits on them, they wouldn't be so ridiculed as albums. Chart success forgives all manner of half-assed filler fests. I personally think the best of Bionic is better than some more successful pop girl releases.
I've edited my tracklist to be: 1. Bionic 2. Birds of Prey 3. Elastic Love 4. Monday Morning 5. Bobblehead 6. WooHoo 7. My Girls 8. Little Dreamer 9. Life Me Up 10. You Lost Me 11. Stronger That Ever 12. I Am (Stripped) ...and whilst it's not my favourite Christina album, it's good. And probably closer to what she originally wanted Bionic to sound like. Lotus is weaker, but it's not awful. Just a Fool and Blank Page are particularly great. - Christina being a "bitch" doesn't bother me. She's not my friend, she's a popstar. It certainly made it more fun - and "justified" - for people to tear her apart, though. Generally speaking, she just needs to ditch this road of pop she's been going down and make a raw, heartfelt R&B/pop/soul/blues album. Her unique selling point is her ability to delve into those genres convincingly, and previously with fantastic results. She needs to quit playing the pop game against pop girls who do it better than her and focus on delivering what they can't. |

She hinted in her last blog on the website her music was going to enter a new phase. A lot of fans took that as a possible sign she had left RCA but there has been no word on this.
Christina should just get Linda Perry and Sia together and play to each others strengths. Her best work has always been the stripped back, emotional raw stuff. Bionic was just messy and Lotus while full of catchy hits was too generic. Christina hasn't been at her best since Back To Basics. |

Bionic was a total mess, Lotus was an improvement but the flop of bionic was not a surprise really.
Too many songs, 80% filler and generally just not very good. Her best song in recent times has been Feel This Moment with pitbull. |

I do actually love both albums. I personally find lotus kinda rushed as she's screaming on every track (I do love the songs though) where bionic shows she doesn't have to over sing. Birds of prey a personal fave from bionic

I love Lotus, I still listen to it every week and it's the first album from Christina that I downloaded. I listened to Bionic the other day to see if I would also like that however I only really like You Lost Me. That's a great track.

I hated feel the moment don't understand why her singles with other people do better than her own releases.
I think she should leave her record label and also Christina maybe should promote more she didn't come to the uk for the last 2 albums there's also a blind item suggesting she has a drink problem but I don't know if it's true or not. |

Both albums are absolutely fantastic imo. Her chemistry with Sia is amazing. The lyrics are strong, uplifting and her vocals soar. She emotes well.
Had she promoted Lotus more it would have done better. RCA has been getting it wrong a lot lately. |

Her label made a complete mess of Lotus. It could have done really well, it had a killer lead single and an amazing video but then there was no promotion. Not even a performance on the Voice when she was a judge. Then Just a Fool was doing really well and they annouced it would be the second single but then they just let it disappear.
I don't expect her to ever get back to the Stripped level, but I do want her to be successful enough to go on tour. Would love to see her live. |

She made such a perfect album in Stripped that every single thing she releases now will instantly pale in comparison.

for me - bionic was a great album…. lotus was a mediocre album… but bionic was too long and could have been excellent with a shorter track listing…

Go back and listen to Stripped and Back to Basics, then listen to Bionic and Lotus again and you will definetly hear a huge dip in quality.
I can't even begin to cover how dire Bionic is from start to finish, some songs really sound like they were written for Ke$ha with immature lyrics and a pathetic, repetitive use of the word "b*ch" really cheapens the album. The material was beneath her talent and sounded try hard and basically pathetic. I only listened to Lotus once but I could tell from that first listen that there was nothing worth giving a second listen. I also believe that her vocals have decreased greatly since around 2008, probably due to her unhealthy throaty singing technique. I'm by no means a Christina hater, I was once a big fan, but I'm frustrated by her musical output reccently and will not support it. |
