CS - Why are so many characters portrayed in a bad light when Tina's involved?

Tina was shoehorned into the Kirsty/Tyrone storyline - the writers first chose to give viewers a glimpse of the real Kirsty by making her jealous of Tina.
- Then there was the surrogacy storyline - Katy was the original choice.
- Tina was thrown into the Nick/Kylie/David storyline
- She then started rowing with Tracy and Rob
- Now she's being forced into Peter and Carla's lives after having nothing to do with them for 6 years

Forcing Tina into all these big storylines is one thing but I don't think it's right when the writing for other characters starts to suffer because Tina has to be seen as some sort of saint. It must be frustrating for the actors.

Leanne Tilsley - She has decided that husband Nick (who was second best not that long ago) is her priority now and Simon would be safer living with Peter and Carla. There is an interesting interview in the spoiler thread with Jane Danson and she pretty much confirmed that the bullying plot is being used to facilitate Peter and Tina's affair. Jane also explained that she wanted Leanne to be more involved as she is Simon's mother. But where would that leave Tina?

Carla Connor - She may not be maternal but she has always cared about Simon. Remember the custody battle? However, the writers have made sure that Carla's like a woman possessed and they appear to be making her as selfish and as nasty as possible. She's going crazy with wedding plans and is more interested in planning her wedding day than she is about Simon's ordeal. Meanwhile, Tina McIntyre comes to Simon's rescue.

Peter Barlow - The man is incapable of being faithful but after everything that he sacrificed to be with Carla, you would think that the only woman who stands a chance of getting between them would be Simon's mother. Apparently not as Leanne has been pushed out of the picture. Peter's supposed to be marrying the love of his life but he's not happy and he can't get Tina McIntyre out of his mind.

Gary Windass - He loved Izzy and would never have cheated on her before the surrogacy storyline. However he fell for Tina and made a pass at her.

Anna Windass - She used to be quite a warm character but when Tina decided to keep Jake she started acting like a violent bully. She hit Tina.

Izzy Armstrong - She acted like a spoilt brat throughout the surrogacy storyline. She wouldn't let Gary see his son when she found out about him making a pass at Tina, which made Tina look like she was the only one who wanted what was best for the baby.

Kylie Platt - She was jealous of Tina. She started a fight with her and accused her of having an affair with David.

David Platt - He seems to be harassing Tina and he is being blamed for Tommy dumping her. David was almost aggressive towards Tina in the last episode.

Tracy Barlow - She is also jealous of Tina. Tracy is dreadful but I found myself siding with her in her tedious war with Tina because yet again the storyline seemed forced and it was obvious who the writers were expecting viewers to root for.

Every storyline Tina is in seems rushed or forced. She's not a character that I want to dislike but I find it impossible to side with her.

Well Tina is hardly virtuous herself. I think it would be more accurate to say characters are changed to suit the stories the writers want to tell.

Not that everything mentioned above is out of character - the only ones that feel wrong are Leanne and Carla.

It really has become the Tina show this year! Obviously Stuart Blackburn is just over-utilising her character because she is leaving next year, and due to her amount of followers on Twitter, he thinks it's what we want! He's awful!

What I kinda like about those two now is they are on speaking terms I hope they team up as the two scorned lovers of Peter and kill him off... maybe extreme but meh, he deserves it, messes everyone up.

Glad I'm not the only one who thinks this!

Totally agree. Carla, Peter and Leanne are all being given personality transplants lately to make Tina look the hero. I'm guessing we're going to see both Carla and Leanne not giving a damn about Simon in the next few weeks, with Saint Tina being the only one who cares enough to do anything.

I also hate the way this bullying storyline is being done purely to justify an affair. As it is, the story could be brilliant if it focussed on Simon, rather than being all about how amazing Tina suddenly is with children, and how utterly grateful and in awe Peter and Simon are of her.

She's a plague on Weatherfield; a harpy, a siren and a Wotsit all in one!

Actually we're stuck with her until May next year. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

A while ago, people were saying that the PTB wanted to make tina a new Elsie Tanner. ET, of course, was a tart with a heart of gold. Tina, alas, lacks the heart of gold.

The Facebook cover picture has been changed from Hayley to Tina, so it seems she's intentionally been made into a main character this year. They should have kept it with Hayley's picture in my opinion since she's a long running character who is dying a tragic death in the next few months.

When St. Stella was seperated from her beloved backroom she lost the source of all her powers.

She should open up her own tanning salon in Essex along with a male partner called Mark

I assume there's a joke or pun there ... I'm afraid it passes me by.

I'm hoping that what comes from the Peter/Tina affair is the rebuilding of the friendship between Carla and Leanne. They were great.

I blame the writing but I will be glad when she's gone.

Doesn't Michelle Keegan finish filming in May? If so that means we're stuck with Tina I'm-in-everyone's-business-McIntyre until July.

Corrie feels more like a Tina spin-off show these days

Oh gawd, I think you're right. Her contract was up this month and they persuaded to extend it for 6 months, so yes, she'll be 'working' until May, probs on screen till July.

Kill me now.

Of course, the producers could offer her truckloads of money to extend her contract, which, after due consideration, she'd graciously (or not) accept.

But I'm sure that's not what she has in mind.

I think they have already done that to be honest! She wanted to leave this year but they persuaded her to stay until May.
ITV and Michelle Keegan confirmed her exit earlier this year though so she's definitely going this time
