They have fixed the error now?

I was in 2 minds whether to order it or not as a spare sim...

EDIT

To pay monthly £8.00

yep, it's all over now - the link is showing it at the correct price.

someone on Hot UK Deals claims to have spoken to a T-Mobile representative who said it was a promotion for the first 25,000 people which would make sense i suppose if that was true.

I wonder if the "prices may go up during the term of the contract" clause has got any catch...

I phoned them up too

I was told it's a genuine error and should never have been discounted.

And no way would 25k people signed up in less than a day.

they might try and start charging for it, but enough people have evidence now of them confirming it will be honoured in full for free for 12 months for them to not really get anywhere with it.

look at it this way - would the really want the negative publicity of thousands of cancellation requests or the positive publicity of being the generous network that honoured an alleged glitch and gave out thousands of free contracts ?

Further confirmation, if any were needed, that the deal will be fully honoured - from the official EE Twitter feed

Sounds suspiciously like a PR stunt to create discussion and talk all over the place. Bloody good idea from the PR dept there.

it is a PR stunt, they've done it 3 times in the past 3 years.

It's almost certainly a PR stunt. Sure, they'll take a hit financially but they probably planned for that anyway - the amount it'll cost them will probably come out of their advertising budget.

They could be planning for a certain percentage of customers sticking around once the year is up, and also paying extra for voicemails and going over their allocated minutes - stuff like that.

Network wise, with 250 minutes, 500 texts and 500gb of data, it's very low down on the scale so i doubt very much it'll cause any network problems either.

Just got to work out what to do with the 2nd one i ordered

It is win win win from their point of view, all the PR then users on the network that get a fairly tiny allowance on the big scheme of things, they are able to market to them and try and sell a phone, they will get termination rates on inbound calls, they can start charging after 12 months or upsell and they get any revenue from chargeable calls, addons etc too.

Just had an email from t-mob the same as a previous poster, claiming it was an error on the website but they will honour the deal. result!

the wife will get the t-mob sim, she hardly ever uses her phone so to save £60 over the course of the year is a big deal for her

nice one T-Mobile / EE
