I’ve just purchased a Turtle Beach XL1 headset, which has been set up with the following connections:

1. Red & White jacks into the “Line Out” sockets on the back of my TV.
2. USB connected to the Xbox 360.
3. Connection to controller, to use microphone.
4. HDMI cable linking Xbox 360 to TV.

When viewing Digital TV, using the HDTV’s inbuilt Freeview receiver, the headset works fine. But when I change over to the HDMI channel & start playing the Xbox 360, I don’t receive any sound through the headset.

I’m able to hear the notification sound, whenever I enter/exit a party & I’m also able to hear my voice if I playback a test message to my friends, but am unable to hear any sound from the game. The Xbox is setup to play sound through a headset.

Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated.

When the xbox is set to play audio via a headset could it be muting the HDMI out? The audio is not going direct to the headset but via the TV. So you need to feed audio up the HDMI lead.
