seriously he is not as thick as he makes out hes proberly not thick at all he is simply fololwing the jade goody brigade, when he came on big brother you could definately tell she wasnt the sharpest of tools, but since her we have had so many people not just on big brother but on so many other reality shows play the whole im dumb card as they think people will love them and find them funny and tbh they are right since being thick makes you loved in the uk.

Yeah, he reminds me of Brian Belo with his mannerisms and accent. Wish he'd bore off...

Oh he's thick as mince but he's playing to the cameras. 'Is a carrot and animal, is France in England, is Essex capital of London?' that sort of sh*t is as fake as it gets.

Bet if he had a gun to his head, he'd suddenly remember where GB was on a map

There's people like Joey everywhere. They're smarter than people suspect. They will pretend not to know the most basic of things and then giggle and say "i'm not even lying, I don't know what that is" and everyone goes "aww" and thinks they're adorable and hilarious.

If he's not thick he must be a great actor.

We can only believe the evidence of our eyes and ears so, yes, we believe he's thick.

He wasn't, but he did settle out of court with ITV and Lime Pictures as he believes they stole his idea from a pilot-type-thing he made called 'Totally Essex' featuring a few future TOWIE "stars".

They're often proven right of course - it seems thickness, crudeness and stupidity is valued more than genuine positive traits. I mean - it worked for that crude cow who won the last celebrity big brother didn't it?

I mean - as far as Joey goes - take away the thick act and what is left?

I have met one or two people who genuinely are that thick. TOWIE bores me to tears, so I've never seen him in anything at all, but yeah, not a great impression so far.

My main issue is that people will be spending money voting for what I personally believe to be a fake, or at least exaggerated, persona. It's one thing having people buy into something on TOWIE, it's another when it involves people spending money voting for you. Many people from a certain demographic will vote for him because they believe he really is this funny, loveable ditz who thinks Richard and Judy created the world.

And before anyone asks how I know it's fake, I don't for a fact, I just strongly believe it to be the case. I get the impression he loves the laughs it gets him. He's not even subtle, the Richard and Judy comment I mentioned being a shining example imo.

And last night, with "confronate". He made a point of saying it twice.

As I said in another thread, I don't hate or dislike the guy, but I'm no fan. I just have no time for people playing up to be funny. Yes, I could be wrong and he could really be like that, and I'm open to being proved wrong, but that hasn't happened yet.

The first time I can remember idiocy being celebrated in the general consciousness was Jade Goody. The difference is that I think l she was actually like that, and the public (not all I hasten to add) bought into it and found her ignorance endearing. with clever management and public relations/ marketing types she made a fortune. She was in effect the 'professional moron' prototype.

TV execs/ PR companies and the like saw Goody's success and so the manufactured 'celeb thicko' was born.

I also find it amazing that so many people seem to still buy into it.

Or he sat down with his manager beforehand and they worked out some cute things for him to say.

I saw him on the first series of TOWIE he was in, he was a bit dim, but when he caught on and got popular his IQ suddenly halved.

And Jade Goody really wasn't as thick as people thought. She'd just had no education what so ever and was like a child in many ways.
Most of these professional thickos have had a life of privilege she could only dream of but would rather act like morons for a bit of low rent fame.
Pretty sad if you ask me.

I think you might re Jade Goody. She must have had SOME education though, no?

I think that the new breed are almost trying to outdo themselves these days, and are say things far more idiotic than even Jade came out with. If you've seen Joey Essex on Celebrity Juice, you'll know what I mean.

I saw a video on facebook where he said a square had six sides and Russia bordered Wales

Anyone who believes he is that stupid is pretty stupid themselves.

People are always easily fooled by these people pretending to be stupid

I was never fooled by Brian Bellos act and especially Jade Goody who was nothing but a bully

In this video he says Richard and Judy created the world, takes ages to work out how many sides a square has, thinks Ricky Gervais is a singer, hasn't heard of Prince and answers "In Romeo and Juliet, who is Romeo's girlfriend?" with "Romeo".

Of course, he says all this with a grin on his face knowing everyone will fall for it and he's absolutely right. Every time he says something stupid the crowd go into hysterics. He must get paid thousands just for pretending to be stupid.
