Also, further to what another poster said, why would stairs be a problem for a greyhound or lurcher?
My sister lives in an first floor flat with two huge lurchers and they have no problems with the stairs. Lurchers are great dogs - soft, lovable and bone idle, though they do need at least one long walk and run a day.
