I do like her but agree with you.

I like her too Anne, she seems a nice girl with a great sense of humour.

I just loathe the 'medically excused' passengers each year.

Nobody should be exempt from anything - a level playing field for all.

Since when has IAC ever been a level playing field? There are certain people who get to do trials at this stage in the programme and they are not people like Rebecca.

I don't remember people being exempt in the early years. This could of course be my aging brain!

Spot on.

If the show involves taking part in certain tasks, the producers really should ensure that all the celebrities are capable of performing all the tasks before signing them up.

It's the voting publics business when she gets a lot of money to appear on a reality show that involves different activities

How did you reach that conclusion?

The task is named up to your neck or something right?

Maybe it involves stretching their arms up above their head and as a swimmer maybe she has suffered an injury in this area?

Because Swimming is claustrophobic..

Every year we get passengers who are medically excused for this, and medically excused for that.

You're either fit enough to go in & accept whatever comes your way, or you're not fit enough to enter & pick up a nice fat fee period.

No grey areas for me I'm afraid.”

I totally agree with everything you said, but the blame should be put at the door of those who invite these celebs to take part, we don't know what promises are made to the celebs to get them to sign up. I am expecting Matthew to get a sick note soon if people don't stop voting for him.

I believe she has asthma although she hasn't had an attack for a long time. She will have told the producers this and had a medical before she went in and most likely said she was able to do all the tasks. However this one involves being up to your neck in sand and having various creepy crawlies and wildlife poured over you. This is stressful and could bring on an asthma attack which the sand wouldn't help coupled with the fact that she would not be able to have access to an inhaler in case of an attack due to her hands being buried - not a good idea. So I think it was the production team/doctors who are covering themselves by not letting her do this task rather than her asking for a sick note.

Thing is.... If they get 'celebrities' that are not excused from certain trials they would never get enough people to take part.... They have asked everybody and his great auntie already.

I think if the reason is asthma, it is fair enough. The producers would be in very hot water if they refused any conestant on the grounds that the couldn't do 1 or 2 trials, but were fit in every other way.

No way would she be excused as she was claustrophobic as they would be excusing almost everybody. I reckon Becky would not have wanted to be excused in this way.

Do you even know what swimming is? There is no way that swimming is claustrophobic, you're not enclosed in a small space. If anything it's one of the only things in the world that instills a complete sense of freedom... the exact opposite of claustrophobia really...

We asked exactly the same thing - Rebecca is young, fit and an athlete, would have thought she would have been the last one to be exempt from trials - in fact thought it would have been Mo/Leyla but she seems up for everything. Rebecca also did poorly on the first trial, seems she is not going to be as good as we all thought!!

Her medical grounds should have excluded her from the whole show - its unfair on the others that she's immune to certain tasks

To be honest though - does it matter? Even if she'd have been eligible - there's no way she or anyone else is going to get voted to do a trial as long as Matthew and Joey are there.

Very true, but at least it will give the GBP someone else to target for the next trial

Whilst it does annoy me that celebrities are exempt from some trials, the amount I am annoyed is relative.

So, for example, before Biggins went in, it would have been known that he would not be able to do a lot of the standard trials - he would have known it & the producers would have known it. He should not have been allowed in the jungle at all.

However, for Rebecca ( assuming it is just one trial she is exempt from), it could have been that at the time she signed up, the exact nature of this trial was not known and she would have thought that she would be capable of doing all the standard trials.

This trial appears to be something I've not seen the exact equivalent of before, so I feel that it would have been unfair to Rebecca to say that she couldn't enter the jungle just because the producers have devised a new trial that excludes her. I'm sure it wasn't her choice to be excluded

Not if it's a proper phobia. If you have an actual phobia, that doesn't mean you're just scared. It's an anxiety disorder. If she's actually claustrophobic, being in a confined place can cause severe anxiety and even panic attacks.

I'm not saying it isn't the asthma, but I having asthma myself I'm not entirely sure how it could be a problem for that trial.
I guess we'll figure it out if she's excluded from another
