For anyone confused by these numbers, this is from betfair the worlds largest sports betting exchange (A betting exchange is where punters go up against each other instead of up against a bookmaker, with betfair taking a % as commission for the trade).

These numbers indicate that the total amount of money matched on this event across all 10 competitors so far is £209,950 , of that £209,950 , £120,545 is on Joey Essex, this is a staggering proportion.

So doing the maths on this, 57% of money backed on this market is on Joey Essex, with 10 contestants currently in the competition the average money staked per competitor is just over £20,000 , meaning that 6x the average amount has gone on Joey Essex. This is a clear indication that he has sparked the most interest among punters, of course this does not automatically translate into votes but it is quite frankly remarkable to have such a large % of the activity on 1 person in a 10 runner race.

Everyone expected Mark Wright to win too.
Not saying he won't win but voters area fickle bunch at the best of times.

If Mark Wright was given the airtime Joey has been so far and was up against the same contestants that are in (except Joey) this year then I believe Mark would also of won.

remember mark lost to a boyband member who no one really saw as a threat and it was due to a backlash vote against mark, i believe the same could happen to joey in the final 2 this year, so watch out for a kian egan victory

Yes, OK, but why? He's (JE's) got absolutely nothing going for him, as far as I can see.

That's not true.

Dougie won on his own merit. He was a nice guy and quite funny.

I think most liked Mark and Dougie actually, no backlash vote.

A massive Twitter fanbase. I think someone else quoted it at 2.7m yesterday.

I wouldn't bet on it at the moment, the thick Essex boy bit might wear a bit thin after a few weeks. It is way too early, some of them take a good few days to come to the attention of voters. He seems like a nice enough guy but don't underestimate the popularity of people like Laila and Kien.

If I was to bet on anyone it would be Kian. Nice enough fella and big existing fanbase. But it's pot luck at this stage really.

2.7m !!

His twittering must be a revelation. Or his fanbase of equal or lower IQ.

I am 100% sure Joey Essex will reach the final 3 (unless he walked out or something lol) & at this point already around 90% confident he'll win the show.

I don't think he'll win - if he gets to the top two I imagine there'll be a huge anti-Joey vote for the other campmate, no matter who it is.

I can't recall if I read it on a thread here or on an article (or even if I bloody well imagined it) but did Joey say that if he was up against Matthew in the next trial (this one coming) that he'd throw it so Matthew's camp would get some food? If it is true (and he does) then I'd have no objection to him going on to win. I already don't dislike him nearly as much as I thought I would. In fact at times he comes across as quite sweet.

That now seems to be a sad fact of life
It's like CBB, Charlotte won for the same reason.

No I think he said something along the lines of wanting to give Matthew his food

agreed,

it did Mark Wrights reputation good going in to the jungle as he was a genuinely nice guy,the same with Dougie,

i think Joey will too come across the same as seeing him in TOWIE he hasn't got any horrible traits as such and to be honest hes popular with young girls so after thinking about it i think he will win,not that i want him to as Kian and Lucy are my favs but i do think Joey will get to win this years jungle,

If the supposed favourite won everytime every bookie in the country would go bankrupt!

He may make the final 2 - but I have faith the public won't vote for stupidity in the end and vote for the most deserving winner.

Betting odds at this stage of the game are complete nonsense.
They don't call it gambling for nothing.

Essex seems an ok guy but I think he's too stupid to win . He'll get tiresome.

People on Betfair are only backing who they THINK is going to win. It's a true indicator of who Betfair users THINK is going to win - not of who WILL win.

Betfair users are not necessarily voters and definitely not all Joey Essex voters.

Can understand why he's such a huge favourite but does not indicate a landslide at all. Tamera Foster had similar odds a few weeks ago to win X Factor - look at her now!

I think its easier for voters minds to be manipulated on shows like im a celeb due to the fact they can literally pick and choose what to show where as on x factor even if they put you in great slots every week they cant make you have charisma as a singer (something which tamera lacks alot of currently) , also I'd say that a decent proportion of the people betting have some knowledge e.g a lot of their friends probably like Joey and are going to vote for Joey therefore they feel he will have a good chance of winning, but you are right it doesn't indicate a definite win however I think the near 60% proportion is at least a "sign".

I like your style.

The whole Joey thing is very much a carbon copy of Rylan's stint on celebrity Big Brother - foregone conclusion; I've orange skin and luminous teeth and revel in my stupidity - ain't I grand?

A bit depressing but - thus far - I don't find Joey quite as irritating as Rylan. There's time yet, though.
