So yah not sure you guys have seen the soap ratings yet:

EastEnders hit the 8 million mark for the first time since March on Monday evening (November 18), overnight figures show.

The Walford soap's steady increase in the ratings continued as 8.03m (32.9%) watched the return of Shirley Carter and the first appearance of her sister Tina at 8pm on BBC One. BBC Three's repeat screening secured 433k (2.9%) at 10:30pm

Coronation Street remained ahead of its BBC rival, however, as more issues for Nick and Leanne's marriage brought in 9.03m (39.6%) at 7.30pm on ITV and 176k (0.7%) on +1. 9m (36.0%) returned at 8.30pm and 124k (0.5%) on +1 as Peter issued a warning over Nick's treatment of Simon.

Emmerdale appealed to 7.39m (34.0%) at 7pm on ITV and 153k (0.6%) on +1 as Paddy and Rhona's relationship came under further strain.

Hollyoaks enjoyed a strong evening as Tony's problems with bad boy Trevor were seen by 1.41m (6.8%) at 6.30pm on Channel 4 and 102k (0.4%) on +1 - the show's highest figure of the year. E4's first look also did well with 811k (3.7%) watching at 7pm and 135k (0.6%) on +1.

Over on Channel 5, Neighbours entertained 636k (8.6%) at 1.45pm and 989k (5.9%) at 5.30pm, while Home and Away managed 276k (3.6%) at 1.15pm, 705k (3.7%) at 6pm and 475k (2.3%) for 5*'s first look at 6.30pm.

Elsewhere, the latest episode of Doctors interested 1.65m (22.6%) at 1.45pm on BBC One.

This isn't a thread to show off etc, it's just a thread to congratulate the show for doing well.

Personally am glad to see EE on the up as I've really enjoyed it since the Michael murder episode. So here's hoping EE can keep it up

I've enjoyed the show a lot more over the last couple of weeks so it's nice to see it doing better in the ratings. Hopefully as the show improves, the ratings will continue to go up.

Yah it does seem like this murder episode was a turning point for the show as the quality since that episode has just improved greatly.

Good. The quality is improving so the ratings deserve to go up to reflect that. I hope the team are taking note of this and don't slip back into their old boring ways just because the ratings are on the up. Keep us entertained and you won't need to worry about the ratings.

I yah I agree with that. I really hope they keep up the great quality and don't start with all that humour rubbish etc there's just no need of it in EE.

Good on 'em Let's hope they keep the quality consistent so that viewers don't start dropping off again. Carry on improving and they should be back on track soon enough.

One thing that's really standing out at the minute is the pace of the shows very good. Three very good storylines have exploded pretty much over the last three weeks, and yesterdays episode gave hints that they're next going on to the Alfie/Roxy/Kat thing again. Not a fan of that one at all, but it's good that they aren't resting on their laurels.

Totally agree, the pacing of stories has become a lot more natural again. For too long we'd have one good storyline followed by weeks of tedious filler. Now there seems to be at least one interesting thing happening each week, with several other stories running simultaneously. For the first time in ages I am actually looking forward to what's coming up!

Yah you've kind of hit the nail on the head there. The pacing of the shows so far has been much improved. There's finally stuff happening.

Yep. Agree. Just read the spoilers for tonight's episodes and there are no fewer than four storylines running parallel to each other (and cutting across each other in some instances).

It was good to see the show rating being over 8million but I do think the show needs a lot more repair done to it.

I found it boring and unbelievable. Wouldn't Phill sort out Carl on the day Max got out and go looking for Shirley.

Lauren confessing she loves Jake and jake finally realising where she lived but didn't he drop her back in the car a couple of months ago, he is a taxi driver and he will know that it's not far from where they live.

Tina is another cocky Shirley who now is a dyke, who's in a abusive relationship, how many more times will a new character come into the show running away from a abusive ex.

The show is getting better, a lot better but it still needs so much work done and I believe DTC will do this.

I agree work still needs to be done, but we can both agree its heading in the right direction at last.

You can thank the Wicks for this.

On 22M to go and we'll right about where we were when Den was in his pomp.

It's a step in the right direction & I'm pleased even although I've not watched the series for over a year now.

Have not missed some of the sanctimonious posters either; a mirror of EE itself. LOL!

The only way EE's ever getting 30m viewers again is if the Queen's funeral cortege takes a detour through Albert Square
