Making Vinyl Records
For those born after the industry embraced the CD and digital age, but have come to appreciate vinyl, this may be of interest if it hasn't been posted before.

Without shellac and later vinyl, this huge industry which was shared mostly by Wurlitzer, Seeburg, Rock-Ola and Ami employing many thousands of people producing hundreds of thousands of machines. Advances in technology, eventually led to the decline in their appeal and the demise of the industry. It's a bit lengthy, but it does show how huge was this industry, the same processes going on in three other companies. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ms1HMx3lW3A A few of us are still in love with these machines, I've two, but from the 60s/70s. |
