If there is no dance off at the SF stage then there is a fair chance of a 2/2 split.

So far in the voting we have only been able to tell that both Abbey and Patrick's fanbases are not that solid. Time will tell about the rest.

I would be astonished if they dropped the dance off for the semis. Barring opening the phone lines to an impossible save they hang on to the dance off, even if it means a final night with just 2 couples.

4 couples performed either judges' or personal favourite dance (can't remember which ) and then their showdance followed by Dani being eliminated.
The messy bit was not placing Denise and Kimberly before announcing Louis as the winner.
Do we yet know who was runner up?

I take it there have been semi's without a dance-off yes?

I hope it isn't as rushed as last year's and I really hope they announce 2nd/3rd place.

My prediction:

1. Susanna
2. Sophie
3. Natalie
4. Ashley

The last three years there has been no dance-off in the semi's and probably since about series five if memory serve's me correctly.

In 2010 and 2011 there was no dance-off, and instead there was an automatic double elimination. This was originally the plan for last year but it changed late in the day so there would be four couples in the final and only one eliminated in the semi, meaning that there would be a dance-off in the semi-final after all.

Agree, but BBC have a trick of really annoying fans. They will most likely spoil the result like last year.

For me

1st - Susanna
2nd - Natalie
3rd - Sophie
4th - Ashley

Series 5 - I don't think it had a dance-off at all.

Series 6 - they reintroduced the dance-off, but had that kerfuffle in the semi-final and had to abandon having a dance-off because the judges putting both Lisa and Rachel in joint first place meant that Tom could not have gone through, even with the viewers putting him in first place (which they would have done). In those days first place meant three points and third place one point, whereas these days they would give third place two points.

Series 7 - still had the dance-off, but not in the semi-final, so Ali & Brian left, despite being second on the leader-board, since Chris Hobbit's public vote saved him, giving a three-couple final.

Series 8 & 9 - dance-off throughout the series, but not in the semi-final, where two couples were eliminated from the remaining five couples, giving a three-couple final.

Series 10 - dance-off back for the semi-finals, where Denise and James beat Lisa and Robin for the final place in a four-couple final.

Since the BBC has confirmed it will be a four-couple final again, the likely scenario is that it will be a repeat of Series 10, with a dance-off to find the final couple.

With thanks to Ultimate Strictly, a truly brilliant website.

Will they scrap the judges vote (as in the dance-off vote) just before the final, because then people like Natalie and Abbey could easily not make it with the public votes, if Patrick is now in public favour along with Ashley and Susanna (if you believe they are liked more than the two girls). I'm not really sure of Sophie's fan base, but I think Ashley has a good one, Ben for some reason does too and Susanna as well (despite having her section of dislikers too which I do think are a minority). if I were to put people in the final now, Ben and Mark def wouldn't make it for me.

Don't get me started. Series 5 had a dance off in the 3 person semi final & Gethin was eliminated.

It threw them when Kelly withdrew & they never addressed the unfairness of a situation like that. They tried to o the same in Series 6 but it spectacularly back fired.

I think ideally they wanted to do it series 7 but finally realised that it was unfair & we haven't had a 3 person left dance off since. It was a 2 person final the same as series 5

A two person final doesn't really work well but the four doesn't either really

It was Denise.

“Meanwhile, we can reveal Denise Van Outen took second place in her own right.

On last weekend’s show she was named “joint runner-up” with Kimberley Walsh but Denise was actually 4% ahead of the Girls Aloud star in the vote.”

The Daily Star is not useful for anything unless you want to read puff pieces on Big Brother.

Yeah, could be. But then they should have add "....and then the two lowest couples in the combined score will face off in the dance off for that illustrious final final ticket" Or something

We will see, it might indeed be the same scenario as last year (the scenario without the dance off is perhaps a bit unfair, but would make it all the more unpredictable).

Last year was meant to have the double elimination in the semis & a three couple final, same as the previous year. I suspect the voting for Denise would have put her out of the competition at that point, which is why they suddenly changed to a 4 couple final with an extra semi final section.
