Why when they talk about Audrey's house do they always call it Grasmere Drive? She never calls it home like normal people would. It's always referred to as Grasmere Drive. It's weird lol

I think it's a link back to when Audrey was a bit more up herself and thought she was better than Corrie Street. She used to say it, to make it clear she stayed in the posh bit of Weatherfield. It's one of those things, you've just done so long, it becomes part of your life, I think.

Is it that uncommon?
Our family refer to each others' houses by the street names.

Yeah I didn't think it was weird at all. She just calls her street/close by the name, like some of the characters say "Rosamund Street"

She has to emphasise that where she's bringing David is away from Coronation Street because almost everyone who lives on the street works there and socialises there too so the prospect of them having to go to another street for any reason is very daunting and they need to feel prepared.

A lot of people I know refer to the street as well when talking about where they are going.

In Audrey's case, imo, it is that reference to how she's 'bettered herself' by being able to move away from Coronation Street.

Indeed - it's a throwback to the late 80s/early 90s when there was lots of lovely social/class-based observational humour in the show.

I think she does it because, she is the only person who doesn't live on the street!

Having said that, I have moved quite a few times, so i always refer to my current and previous addresses by their road/street names, and no I wasn't doing a moonlight flit, merely "trading up"

At least we know where she lives now. I thought she was still in Maria and Marcus's spare room.

Speaking of Audrey being the only character who doesn't live on the Street. Does anyone remember when Gail and Brian used to live in a council house that was miles away from the Street? I remember Ivy used to have to get a bus to go and visit them, they lived in that house for a long time and it was featured a lot in the 70s and 80s. That would never happen today.

I remember that. They used to have a neighbour called Jackie who was always available for child minding duties.

I never said it was weird I meant it would never happen today , as all characters have to live in or near the Street.

Are you thinking of this house?
