He really is a very humble man considering his achievements. I met him when he opened a snooker club close to where I worked. I got to shake his hand.
He came along with John Virgo and Cliff Thorburn. Steve walked behind them and spoke to anyone that wanted to talk, he spent ages signing his name and posing to photographs. Barry Hearn (his manager) was trying to hurry him along, but he just carried on signing.
He was the current world champion, but you would never have known. He was so down to earth, and is a great ambassador for snooker.
Anyway .... I hope he does well in there.
