Why was Lucy being hated for her remark about the word celebrity?
Wise Badger

I thought it was a bit of an overreaction to say the least. All she said was she doesn't like the word celebrity.
And for that they were calling her a bitch?

She came across as nice from what I seen so far.
She went and hugged Alfonso after he came down on the parachute knowing that he was terrified.
And she was the first to express sympathy from Matthew when he came back from his task.
Not the behaviour of a bitch.

Has she done something else that I missed?

She also said she hated media whores. The people calling her a bitch are (I suspect) the media whores that she said she didn't like, which is why they're putting her down. I've loved Lucy so far and want to see more of her.

Media whores hated her calling them out.

How could she say she hated the word 'celebrity' and media whores when she was appearing on I'm a Celebrity? Surely the only point of the show is to raise her own profile. It comes across as hypocritical.

My reading of what she said was that she wasn't comfortable with being called a celebrity. I guess she sees herself as an actress rather than a celeb.

The media whores comment was perhaps a bit naïve, but in those edited interviews we have no idea what the question was. Maybe she was asked what the worst kind of camp mate would be for her.

Maybe because the content on the channel ITV2 is largely made up of programmes which are obsessed with celebrity or have celebrity in the title.

If you can't get enough of celebrities or media whores then ITV2 is the go to place for them.

Why isn't she getting praised for letting Joey win at least one meal for his camp .
Some are far too quick to judge others .

Notice how they were so quick to say that it was Kians idea. It's as if they just couldn't bring themselves to acknowledge she done something good.

It was actually Lucy herself who said it was Kian's idea - because she didn't want to take the praise for being kind. When the 'panel' thought it was Lucy's idea they were slating her for throwing it - and then when its pointed out that it was another's idea - it suddenly wasn't such a bad thing. Lucy can't win with John Partbitch and the ugly woman from Towie. They've made it quite clear that they're on the 'Lets make Joey the KOTJ' payroll. I'm sure there'll be others on that payroll too.

I don't think so. The only other forums I post on are Buzzjack (rather infrequently now), IMDb and I used to post on the Take That fan site years ago (when I was a Take That fan). What's the C4 site?

That's really REALLY stupid.
That in itself just reveals that for whatever reason they really do want to make her look bad, and that there can be no doubt that it may just seem that way.
Why are they so desperate to run her down?
I just don't get it.

It's not as if I'm a fan, or have any particular like or dislike for her. It's just that I can see that the spinoff show for whatever reason wants to paint her in a bad light no matter what. Based on absolutely nothing.
Maybe she's been cast as a potential 'villain' before the series even started. Why, I have no idea.
Or is it anything to do with what agents certain celebrities are signed with? Could it be that?

She's just gone up in my opinion after saying this, I loathe them too.

The reaction and hatred towards her, after the 'Media Whore' comment, is completely over the top and ridiculous in my opinion.

Did Lucy make a sexist, racist, ageist, or anything that bad? No, she didn't. 'Media Whore' comment is nothing compared to some who could make racist, sexist, or ageist comments and other harmful comments. I cannot believe the knives area already out for Lucy, because she made a harmless comment. I wonder if the people slagging her off already, will actually have the guts to make out she is bitch, like they already have done?

She did come across as a bit of a hypocrite considering she's done her fair share of 'celebrity' shows.

She's done 3 or 4 apparently & was even on Family Fortunes the other day.

That said, she could have said she disliked the word 'celebrity' & nobody would have batted an eyelid - but then saying she hated media whores was bound to get the backs up of those who found the comment an uncomfortable truth.

No need for her to say it either if we're honest.

I'm aware of that mate, but if you loathe celebrity culture so much, why would you want to go on there?

Why not just make an anonymous donation out of your sizeable salary instead.

Four or five reality / game shows suggests she doesn't hate the celebrity circus at all.

Hence as I said, a tad hypocritical.

I really don't see what IAC has to do with celebrity culture.
The contestants may be celebrities but the contest itself has nothing to do with celebrity culture. It's a jungle challenge.

It's like saying that someone who hates celebrity culture should also not go on Celebrity masterchef.
That's a cooking show.

I thinks what she really means by celebrity culture is that whole Katie Price, Kerry Katona, TOWIE phenomenon where these media whores put out their lives, their relationships, basically their dirty laundry out for everyone to see in exchange for attention.

That's not the same as a celebrity making a one off appearance on celebrity masterchef or a celebrity jungle challenge or celebrity apprentice.
