It has come to my attention that there is no thread on this board that does not swerve almost immediately (but inevitably by Post No.8) in the direction of a certain contestant. Everything revolves around her. Sooo, there is a penalty on this thread. The first poster to mention this individual on this Unmentionable-Person-Free-Thread will have to clean her bloody hair brush, which I understand is Fabulous, with their teeth.

Please can we talk about t'others!

I dunno. Off the top of my head:

Mark's knees -- He did really well with his jive, considering. It puts Bruce's apparently pointed observation about the jive under a new light. I noticed on an earlier ITT Zoe mentioning 'Mark's knees, which he hasn't talked about…' as if she was gearing up in advance of last night's question.

Sophie -- have you warmed up to her cool? Is Brendan getting frosted out? (oo, I channelled my friend Terry for a bit)

Abbey -- I like her. I'm getting fed up of her high-pitched squeak. If you listen to the Goodbye Fiona VT, you keep hearing it in the distance. Ow, me ears…

Patrick -- should he have been wearing black at Blackpool? If he can finish a fault-free routine will that be enough to get him to the finals??

Susanna -- is her personality suited to all of the dances? e.g. Mark seems to find a way to belong to all of them -- he's there but not so as to disturb the spirit of the dance. By contrast I've found Susanna too pushily there but just lately her spinny, spinny waltz and her Paso have been much more characterful as opposed to forceful. Is this because she's learned something, or did those dances suit her?

Ben -- lovely Ben. Why has he never been as good as his Rumba? Didn't someone tell him that's the dance that should have been awful for a male contestant? How come Kristina hasn't quite managed to keep him progressing? Well, he is, but very slowly...

Ashley -- Can he make a mark? Of all of them, I confess he's the one I still forget. Not sure why this should be -- and perhaps other people forget other people. (Maybe Patrick, for example, who is sometimes called bland.) Can a low-impact personality win SCD?

I dunno. But be warned… First mention of HER and this thread will squirt you with a noxious, toxic, unwashable liquid. And the hair brush is yours…

Supposing the thread ever reaches Post No.8. Perhaps everything really does revolve around *******

I am tempted to defy you and mention the unmentionable in post 2 (or 3 if someone else is typing now too) but I will resist. I hate cleaning my own hairbrush.

That's the spirit! (Shame I added fishy gunk to the dye, and a choice something from the corner of the field… )

Love this thread.

Mark - I'm not normally keen on the performance only celebs but he is so joyful and natural, he is the first to ever win me over. That said, he does have rhythm and musicality.

Susannah - wasn't keen until the last couple of weeks but I love her partnership with Kevin. I agree with Craig that she's probably not really 10 material but she is a solid all rounder with drive and determination. I feel she is unfairly maligned in character.

Sophie - She's my favourite, I love her quirkiness and she seems very popular with the other contestants. When she dances well I find her so watchable.

Abbey - her improvement is worth mentioning. I like her on the show and feel she receives a lot of negativity. I can imagine she would do your head in if she was your partner but she is gorgeous if not technically perfect on the dance floor.

Ben - lovely man personality wise, has improved but, but, but... Can't think of more to say on him.

Patrick - I've taken a long time to warm to him and his feet drive me bonkers but again such a natural with joy and rhythm.

Ashley- Mr Vanilla. Beginning to feel sorry for him as he has turned into the invisible man. Quite a good dancer, improving but uninspiring.

I keep feeling I've forgotten someone.

I have a hunch the ultimate irony will happen here ( if the thread isn't deemed unconstructive). I have a feeling Pet you may have started a thread that will become all about she who shall not be named!

Mark's knees - are a bit shot.

I'm really pleased he's got a foxtrot, it's hard, but he HAS got grace and I can't BEAR another latin number.

Sophie - is nice. A really nice girl. I think she's improving now and am hopeful. She's still a little weak and disconnected to Brendan, but the partnership might produce something amazing (in a variety of ways) so I'm still interested.

Susannah is gung ho and not bad at all. I'm not sure she's all she's cracked up to be, but she's good and getting better - I like the way she totally 'goes for it'. And Kevin is amazing value.

Ashley - I am getting keener and keener on him. I've watched him work very hard and improve week on week with little encouragement. He's capable of both power and elegance. I now actively look forward to seeing him dance - and I don't forget him.

Ben - really nice chap - glacially slow improvement - lots of smoke and wriggling around - just not very good.

Patrick inconsistent improver - sometimes takes great leaps but still has odd problems with his feet. Becoming progressively fonder and has immense spirit for dance.

Abbey Again, slow improvement - same problems crop up all the time - weak top line, floppy frame, unconvincing feet now and again, weak core - she never seems to properly 'pull it off' - a bit disappointing. I also find Aljaz' choreo dull, twee and not dynamic - but that's not her fault. Oh and I find her deeply irritating.

That price included some foils and my fringe trimmed too! Been with my hairdresser for over 15 years and she now works in a small local salon that doesn't charge city prices.

He does seem to have something engaging. That first jewellery heist tango had me won over. I watched it over and over and over grinning the whole time.

I agree with all of this. She is solid and determined and that is what was getting in the way of the dances for me. It's like the seams were all turned out the wrong way. But lately she seems to have found the knack of disappearing into the performance… I don't mean not being there exactly… It's more that she has found the way to be in the dance in a quieter way. Maybe she's tapped into an interviewer's skill. If you put too much of yourself out there you can crush the person you're talking to. Maybe she's treating the dances like quiet, interesting, difficult interviewees...

Her QS and her Charleston are the two I watch again. And maybe her AT too. Because I know nothing about what the dance should look like, I simply find the character of the dance intriguing. A little menacing and odd.

For a while I thought she was like Chelsee, my favourite contestant from the few years I've watched. And there are overtones of that kind of gawkiness, but she's more self-possessed and a brighter mind too (I have to say). I feel like we're still waiting for the moment where she completely inhabits the dance… and I trust that it will come.

I like him as a rugby player and admire him, and loved his Rumba. I like his eyes, his stubble, his chest, his arms, his legs… but I would be really disappointed if those things carried him into the finals ahead of Patrick, for example...

Originally Posted by Sofajudge:

It was his Cha Cha (was it a Cha Cha? I really don't know the Latins apart properly, despite Pasha and Janette's help. Patrick was wearing a kind of kingfisher blue…) that made me really notice him. A friend of mine picked him out from the start but I wasn't that quick to notice him. He is the one who most makes me want to learn to dance. He gives off something that makes me grin at once, ear to ear. Plus I like his relationship with Anya.

To be fair to him, Karen last night did make me see him in a new light… But I agree with you. [/quote]

Nice Thread PM

-Sophie : I really like her as a person. Not too keen on her dancing but she is lovely . My 2nd favorite.

-Abbey : Love her . I love her partnership with Aljaz. I know her squeaky voice can be annoying , just ask poor Aljaz but she is doing really well.

-Patrick : I love his natural sense of rythm; I like him more in the Latin dances and Im really starting to warm up to him and Anya.

-Ashley; He seems lovely; I keep forgetting he is on the show , sorry but I wished he would get a lot of credit for what he is doing because in comparison of someone like Ben for example, he is underrated imo.

-Mark : I absolutely love him and Iveta together . Watching him dance just bring a smile to my face and he is such a trooper for carrying on in the show with minimal complaints.

-Susanna : I'm indifferent about her; I do like Kevin but what I appreciate the most about her is the fact that she really goes for it; really throw herself in the process and in the routines. I wished Sophie could have that drive.

-Ben : Lovely man but mediocre dancer imo

Did I forget anyone

Valiant attempt, Pet. But the nature of this board (or perhaps merely human nature?) is that your not wanting to talk about the unmentionable will most certainly attract the defiers to talk about it!

edit: I see they already did!
