It seems to be the way of the world nowadays, sadly.

I try to be tolerant as I do remember being young myself (just!) and fancying every bloke with a pulse but back in them days people were actually famous for having a talent, not for being stupid. It's the same with every reality show. The X Factor probably being the best example. To quote Louis "The girls will love you" while thinking "cos you're fit, not cos you can actually sing!"

Maybe it's an age thing but I much prefer a man with character and depth and a degree of intelligence and worldliness. Matthew ticks all the boxes there

I couldn't help notice in the 'up to your neck' task that Matthew was, indeed, up to his neck in sand before the insects were released whereas Joey's shoulders and top of his arms were clearly visible so there was far more room for the insects and he didn't have them all over his face and in his ears like Matthew did. Clearly rigged in Joey's favour.

Then, when they were having to count to one minute, Matthew had to do it with a crab wedged in his ear which must have distracted him but he still only lost by one second.

A claxon should have sounded at 60 seconds and the Essex manchild disqualified at that point.

I mentioned this in another thread - it seems as though they're making the tasks easier for Joey (stands to reason - the producers want him to win). It was so obvious though - with Matthew being a bit taller than Joey - if anything - the sand should have been higher on Joey - its like they've said 'OK guys - however hard the task is - lets make it worse for Wrighty'. And - Joey should have been disqualified for pressing the buzzer after 60 seconds had elapsed. A&D make me a bit pissed off too - they actually seemed gleeful telling Matthew he was taking no food back to camp. Matthew must have hit a raw nerve there with A&D at sometime on his excellent morning show.

Feel a bit better now that Kian got revenge.

I noticed this as well. Blatant favouritism showed towards Joey by the idiot producers. The difference wasn't even subtle either, but completely blatant. I wasn't even trying to spot if the trial was fair or not, but I straight away noticed this without even thinking.

I'm in the Matthew appreciation society as well! He seems pretty switched on, has sussed out the fake Essex lad almost from the off, and is more game for the tasks than I thought he would be.

I too noticed that his sand was way higher in that task also- it would have made it far worse for him.

I like him too, trouble is I can't bear to watch or listen to the bushtucker trials so end up missing most of the programme....

The bubbling baby act is wearing off. I think we will soon see a stroppy, argumentative Matthew...

Wouldn't everyone I like intelligent characters with bags of personality which is Matthew to a tee.

I do like intelligent campmates but most of all I want them to be themselves and I don't think Matthew is truly being himself. Big Brother it isn't.

All these contestants put on a persona. It's only natural as even in BB people try to be 'nice' or 'stupid' or 'nasty' for that matter. It's partly to do with contestants learning that playing a certain role may lead to a win or furtherance or creation of a career and partly because it's human nature to try to fit in or look good.

People are are also multi dimensional and I'm pretty sure what we're seeing of Matthew is part of who he is.

We we'll have to agree to disagree because I don't think for one minute he is a blubbing baby and he does seem to get over his fears pretty quickly.

Just realised that ITV probably want Joey to progress in the game because he stars in a show that probably has very high viewing figures. Saying this though, I'd have thought that Emmerdale would have been the same. I can't understand why they're slating Lucy for.

Neither can I, what on earth has she supposed to have done to cause it? As far as I can see, she seems lovely & want to see more of her.
Maybe it's something to do with her not liking media whores, if it is that, then it just makes me like her even more!

Anyway, back to Matthew, I really thought I wasn't going to like him but I've had a change of heart, personally I don't think he's a cry baby, he was a bit upset the first night & let it show, so what.
Since then he's been brilliant in the trials, he doesn't appear to be putting on an act, when he's happy, he shows it & when he's p***ed off, he doesn't try and hide it, for eg last night on the trial with Amy, he was beyond cheesed off & could have quite easily returned to the camp empty handed (I think I would have) but he didn't, he just got on with it.
If he does explode, it won't put me off him in the slightest, in fact after the rubbish time he's had, I'm surprised he hasn't already & if that time does come, it'll be great TV.

Go Matthew!

I also noticed that during the task with Amy last night, when she was sleeping and the light started flashing, he would gently wake her and wait for her to get herself together before going to the phone box. He could quite easily have given her a quick nudge and legged it to get a bit of an advantage but he played it fair.

I would love Matthew to win, but if he carries on making comments about Saint Joey then ITV will give him a bad edit and that will be that. Hopefully enough of the others will wise up to Joey and it won't just be Matthew standing out as the one who has him sussed.

He's hardly a blubbering baby for crying at some point. I actually hope he is up to something and gives us a show to enjoy
