Why did the judges rate Lisa Snowdon so highly?

Whatever it lacked in technique, Alesha'a Cha Cha had bags of character.

Lisa's was insipid, limp and appallingly overmarked.

No contest between the two of them.

How was the it fixed for Lisa to progress at Oz's expense? I was a huge fan of Oz, but on the night, Lisa's best dance did seem better than either of Oz's. He didn't get stitched up with dodgy dances either - the AS should have been a "banker" for good marks given his previous ballroom efforts. I know Brendan got some stick for focusing on only one dance, but if you expect to be in the DO then that's shrewd tactics.

Or was it simply that the decision was taken to have a DO with only 4 pairs left, which gives the judges huge leeway to engineer a particular pair into the bottom 2?”

Oh, Travis ...

*rolls eyes then smirks whilst holding red metal flower then flounces round office*

I refer you to my previous post: Lisa's cha cha, devoid of character or sass. Overmarked. Massively. And I wonder why ...

I didn't really rate Alesha as a dancer - her Latin technique was as bad as Lisa's. I think they were both overmarkedf at every turn.

A bunch of childish comments from sniggering twelve-year-olds. It got a standing ovation in the ballroom. I also liked the music - from Cavalleria Rusticana I think.

You do realise it wasn't actually danced to that music - that has been added by one of the 'sniggering twelve-year-olds'?! Brendan and Lisa actually danced it to yet another of Brendan's favourites - I would do anything for love. And trust me there were plenty of rolling eyes and sniggers in the studio that night!

I'd forgotten the whole Bleakley stuff. Yes that got very heated.

Lovely clip and they both were great. Thanks ”

I'm sorry and I hate to diss someone else's opinion but I remember that and I fail to see how Lisa can be described as great - Rachel totally showed her up. I'll grant you Lisa did so pretty good ballroom and perhaps due to the judges attitude she didn't get enough credit for that but I still maintain that her latin wasn't much cop which in fairness to her was a fairly universal problem with series six in general - Austin and Tom had enough showmanship to sell their latin, Rachel had enough technical ability that didn't really matter - Lisa IMO had either and possibly her model frame worked against her in the latin. It worked for her in the ballroom where she always looked elegant but the rhumba aside (which I remember being ok but lacking in the wow factor that both Rachel's - in fairness performed much later in the competition - and Cherie's - which wasn't) she looked gangly doing latin - possibly that overshadowed any technical ability she had or possibly she didn't have the personality to sell it. Again I'm no expect but then that could be said for at least 75% of the viewing public.

I still can't see what the judges saw in her. She was good, but I wouldn't say she was the best in her year (Tom, Austin and Rachel were better). Nor would I say series 6 was a particularly strong year - series 5 and 8, for me, are much stronger years in terms of female talent; I'd suggest series 10 and 11 are stronger years as well. I'd say (off the top of my head) that Alesha, Kelly, Gabby, Kara, Pamela, Denise, Kimberley and Natalie are all stronger dancers than Lisa. I'm not sure Lisa even comes into my 'Top 10' female contestants.

What sums up the (to me) farcical way the judges wet themselves over Lisa in series 6 actually lies in series 7. All of the series 6 Top 4 returned during series 7 - Tom returned to reprise his showdance in the first episode of series 7; Austin performed with Erin (and the other professionals) when the cast of Hairspray were the musical guests; and Rachel and Lisa did a guest slot in the final, performing (respectively) a tango and a something to Sisters Are Doing It For Themselves.

Tom, Austin and Rachel were as good, if not better, than in series 6 (Tom and Austin seemed more relaxed, maybe because they didn't have the pressure of competing; Rachel was scarily precise and sharp, as sharp if not sharper than she was in he Argentine Tango).

Lisa was quite possibly drunk.

&

I watched this again the other day after someone posted the link. I concur on both points.
