I don't like MW but Joey is as fake as hell, get him out of there first, put the drip in his place.

Hi. I have just watched 2 episodes and I did not know Joey beforehand but to me this is someone who is acting and very bad acting as well.

He knew showing fear the first day would make him having to do the trial, which means being in the public eye, getting a lot of attention.

To be honest the only one I did know was Carlton.

I think Joey's clearly not very bright academically, but he's very clued up on how to play this game - he definitely seemed to be trying to hide a grin when he got picked for the trial again last night, and he's doing his best to build up this years showmance with Amy, despite the fact that there doesn't seem to be any real chemistry there.... He knows how to make the edit each night!
But let's be honest,so does Matthew - he has a game plan worked out too - he got himself picked for the first two trials due to his "phobia" and now seems to working up to this years' first big tantrum.
I think most of the campmates are onto Joey, I wonder if they'll soon suss out Matthew, too?

Takes one to know one. I think Matthew faked his 'fears' in order to get selected for the initial tasks and therefore get airtime. Hes been remarkably cool and collected whenever hes had bugs on him and near him which is far and away the way he seemed in the first episode.

The task wasnt to read a clock. It was to count to 60.

He went too far with stupid act when he said he never learned to blow his nose, the insects clipping his hair etc.

Mathew has hit the nail on the head I think, and while he may be miserable I think I would rather spend time with him being fair and honest than someone pretending to be stupid.

He is stupid. He is pretending to be more stupid than he is because, for some reason, he thinks we will find it funny and endearing. But he is too stupid to know how far is too far. The hair clipping was way too far.

His Essex cohorts think he is funny and endearing though, they treat him as if he's a spoilt 3 year old.

There was once upon a time when spoilt 3 year olds were not pandered to. What's happened to the world?

I had kind of worked out that that must be the case. They've created a monster, then.

It was to count 60 seconds in time laps.

Of course Joey is fake. It wouldn't surprise me if he has a top IQ.

All this can't read the clock, can't tie his shoe laces, doesn't know how to blow his nose.

Maybe he doesn't know how to sneeze either.

Or perhaps he thinks it only gets dark outside when you close the curtains.

It's all an act.

I watched some of that spin off show the other night and this girl from TOWIE said he isn't being fake but he isn't as thick as he makes out.

Make of that what you will...

BIB - Steady on, I wouldn't go that far. He really is laying it on with a trowel, though. I'm heartily sick of The Joey Essex Show.

Which part involved using a clock?

Hmm. Personally what I make of this is-

a) that girl TOWIE person on the spin off show is an idiot herself
b) someone needs to explain to her that the first part of a comment usually won't be given much credence if it is then directly contradicted by the second part.

I don't watch TOWIE, and on this evidence I am thankful, but are all the people on it as utterly insipid and vacuous as Joey and whatever her name is on the spin off show? I've seen Mark Wright and Amy Childs on stuff and they also don't exactly seem like the sharpest tools in the box, although not quite on the same level as this Joey chap.

Personally if I were from Essex I'd be horrified to be 'represented' by such imbeciles.

I agree with Matthew. I think Joey's trying to live up to his 'thick character' by claiming that he doesn't know how to do certain things which should be quite easy to do. He can't manage to tell the time on an analogue watch and blow his nose properly and yet, he succeeded in winning the task where he had to count to sixty by staying as close to actual timed seconds as possible. I don't believe for one second that he's as dim as he makes out he is. I'm convinced Joey's trying to live up to this dim image that he's created for himself when he feels like it.

Like you, I only know Mark and Amy from other stuff. Mark surprised me in the jungle, he was pleasant, not up himself at all and not thick like Essex. I read all the time how horrified people from Essex are that people seem to think everyone that lives there is like a TOWIE person, because they aren't!

Very true. Steve Davis is also from Essex and the complete opposite of Joey.

Yep. Steve's certainly destroying any stereotypes that there may be by some about Essex. Steve's coming across as quite sensible and intelligent.

Ha, I can't really blame them I'd be horrified too!

If I was from Essex, I'd be far prouder to have Steve Davis representing my county as well! I'm not for a second saying everyone from Essex is a moron but there do seem to be a disproportionately large number of them invading my tv screen these days!

Don't even get me started on that Geordie Shore lot

Matthew is my favourite at the moment. What he said will just gain him support. He said what a lot of us are thinking.

I think he is badly educated, probably never bothered when at school .

He is not stupid though . I believe he's very street smart and really clever at manipulating people and situations to his advantage.

With all his failings it makes you shudder to think of the state of the toilet in his house. If he can't tie his shoe-laces, blow his nose, wash his face properly - I'm sure he must surely be incapable of holding his own little willy while he takes a piddle! The pedestal mat must be quite yellow by now!
