Goldfish dont live long? How long did your last goldfish live for?
I've have mine for 6 years so far.
I dont think you can get salmons as pets,I think tropical fish are quite good have you tried your local pet shop?

I would say if you had trouble keeping a gold fish alive you need a better set up and much more knowledge before getting anything else and you cannot keep a salmon they are huge when adult.

Of course you can have a samon as a pet fish. You need a big bowl though because they get quite big. You might have to keep it in the bath. Make sure you take it to a river for a long swim once a week to keep it fit. Get a boy samon because they girl samons will lay eggs all the time.

Boy samons are more faithful too and they are easily trained to come when you call them.

Hope this helps.

If you put your salmon on a lead you could take it to the river for a swim.

Would help by saying what size tank you have too! And if it has a heater! All important info!

Be careful of the salmons. They are tricky creatures. Probably best to start off with salmon steaks first before you progress to an entire salmon, just to get you used it keeping them.
If you feel really worried, you could even start with a tin of princes red Salmon as they are considered the easiest for beginners. Just drop the tin to the bottom of the tank and you don't even need to feed it!

Salmon make great pets. They are faithful and can live for many years. You do need to buy a really long lead and take them for a swim in the sea once in a while, but they can live for several months in your bath without eating anything at all.

Goldfish can live for thirty years or more, but they do become easily bored. It's best to put them in a tank that's within sight of your television.

If you do decide a salmon is the right breed for you, dont forget to get it microchipped. They need to congregate to spawn and jump up waterfalls once a year and you want to be sure you get the right one back
