Where do you think Gaga's second ARTPOP single, Do What U Want , will peak on the charts? How long do expect it to stay in the Top 40? How will it fare over the next couple of weeks, now that ARTPOP is out and she's promoting the single properly?

By charts, I mainly refer to US/UK charts but feel free to add in whatever charts you wish. Actual guesses i.e. definitive figures would be cool too as we can go back and see who was the closest. I'll be having a go myself in a reply after this opening post. Here's a link so we can keep an eye on the chart positions. http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Do_What_U_Want&mobileaction=toggle_view_desktop#Charts

I'd love to see opinions on the song in general as well, get a good discussion going.

And in case anybody says "chart positions are not the be all and end all", I wholeheartedly agree with you. I just have an interest in them for this single, at this unusual juncture in Gaga's career, that's all.

I hate it and hope it flops badly so she can quickly move on to Sexxx Dreams/Gypsy for the next single.

I'll help start things off, I think 'Do What u Want' will climb to and eventually peak at around 8 on the Billboard Hot 100. I just can't see it going much higher for some reason.

I think pretty much the same for the UK chart. It has peaked at 9 and I would be surprised if it went much higher, especially when you consider the chart ineligibility debacle.

I still really like it as a single, it sounds smooth, shiny and slick and it was an interesting venture into R&B by Gaga. It's just a pity it wasn't ARTPOP's first single, in my opinion.

In the US it should do quite well because of the air play and vevo placings.

Not sure about anywhere else just yet though. I'm finding Gaga's sales so unexpected at the moment that its hard to predict what could happen.

It will probably go Top 5 in the US due to radio push and streaming when the video is out.

In the UK I think it will struggle.

I don't think it'll peak any higher then it already has. Although the album is growing on me (slowly) I think she will struggle to have any big hits from it. Applause is as big as she'll get. The only other with single potential IMO is Gypsy, and that sounds too similar to her BTW stuff. Although in fairness that's probably why its so good!

Jewels and Drugs is abysmal so that better not get any release!

As much as I hate it though, I still think it will be a huge #1 smash in the US thanks to R Kelly.

I think that its great --- her vocals are strong and R Kelly (who is responsible for one of my most hated songs ever) sings so well and his vocals carry identity and blend with Lady Gaga. The song doesn't sound like Madonna or a previous Gaga track which is a bonus. I just wish there was acknowledgement of the obvious sample. Overall - very radio friendly and current: top 5 in the US and UK. Dance mixes and the video will aid this to become a chart hit. It will be a million seller in the US.
