Oh Rebecca.

Was it because she has a big nose?

She's a great girl and a fantastic role model for young girls. I hate the fact that idiots have tweeted about her looks, it's disgusting.

Frankie Boyle started all that. Scotch Berk.

The poor girl has been horribly bullied and made to feel insecure about her looks - sadly some people are so superficial that winning an olympic gold medal means less to them than how attractive someone is. Despise bullies

It was Lucy going on about Amy I think that got to her.Its Lucy who made it worst.

How is it nasty? I didn't understand why she was crying.

She has had some very nasty tweets, commenting on her looks rather than her achievements. So has very low self esteem.

I normally have no time for people who go into the bush telegraph and have a cry (usually about nothing) but I really felt for Rebecca tonight.

That git Frankie Boyle has a lot to answer for - I mean - his comments are from someone who fell out of the ugly tree - hit all the branches on the way down, bounced on the ugly trampoline and hit all the ugly branches on the way up!

Rebecca's achievements for her country and her sport will be remembered forever.

How many models from beauty pageants will you remember - even by next week.

I don't know any. I didn't even know they still did Miss UK or whatever it is.

Rebecca should forget her insecurities and the nasty pieces of work who lurk around on Twitter. She needs to remember what she has done and how proud we all were of being British in the Olympics.

She has nothing to be insecure about. She's a top athlete.

I'm not all that comfortable with this character assassination.

Great post - totally agree with you.

So fed up with the culture of "pretty people" and narcissistic personalities

I think she's attractive, beauty is in the eye of the beholder after all. She shouldn't waste her time listening to ********s like Boyle. His so-called "comedy" appears to be at the expense of making other people feel bad about themselves, what a nob jockey

It's a shame she got so upset, she's got so much going for her. Plus, she's not even ugly!

Haven't you read the posts on here?

All the nasty comments on twitter came back to her and we already know she's insecure so it all got too much for her.

What I didn't get was why she said Amy pushed her off the seat, unless I'm going blind I didn't see that.

It is disgusting but it happens sadly to everyone. She and Lucy shouldn't think that no one else gets abuse from Twitter. Amy does too from jealous women calling her an "ugly slut".

Well I think women swimmers have far hotter bodies than stick thin models. I'd choose Rebecca over Amy any day.

She's very insecure about her physical appearance and I think when she saw Amy looking perfect in the jungle, it just reinforced it. Then we had the awkward discussion re beauty pageants tonight and it all got too much for Becky.

Really felt for her. I think the abuse she's had on twitter has been awful and psychologically damaging

Still not sure why Amy should be made to feel uncomfortable because she is naturally pretty though.

Rebecca getting horrible tweets has nothing to do with Amy.

Rebecca needs to learn to be comfortable in her own skin and stick the proverbial two fingers up to anyone that makes nasty comments imo.

I know what it's like to have remarks made about one's looks. It isn't pleasant but at the end of the day you have to gussy up and ignore it.

We'll I think what Rebecca herself said hit the nail on the head when she said that she wanted to be and is an athlete and not trying to be a model and yet people comment (negatively) on her looks. In other words why comment on her looks when they have nothing to do with who or what she is trying to be, and indeed succeeding to be (gold medals). It's out of place and therefore comes across as purely unkind.

Now in Amy's case, people judging her looks actually is warranted in that her looks are essentially her career. I mean being in beauty pageants she is 'literally' judged on her looks to a large extent.

They both do different things and are both very good at what they do. For sure if you're naturally blessed with a gorgeous face and body like Amy then that's half the work done right there.

I like and appreciate both of them for who that are and what they've achieved in there chosen path in life.
