She's not bad looking by any means. I'd date her.

Lucy and Leila need to get a grip. Hate them after tonight. Rebecca came across as really jealous and insecure aswell.

She has been jealous of Amy from the start. I rewound live tv yesterday and she was over touchy about Amy sitting down on the log - its not her log. Its pretty obvious (no pun intended) that if you go into the Jungle on the 14th series there is going to be a glamour girl in there and behaving jealously and running off crying knowing its on live tv to me is attention seeking the sympathy vote. I thought I would love Rebecca and I just dont, she hasnt shown herself to be much of an athlete so far, she has been pants on the trials and doesnt seem eagar to do one.

i hear what you're saying but you've said it in a way that shows you've missed or ignored the fact that Rebecca is clearly and understandably sensitive in the first place to the whole subject of looks due to her having to deal with very unkind comments about her and aimed at her. which is bad enough in a private situation but terrible when it's generally known by all and sundry.

Felt bad for Rebecca but she should leave Twitter for a start as shes too sensitive for that place. She should listen to Laila as well regarding the fact she has an olympic gold medal. If she has ever seen/heard of this show Rebecca must of known that it always features a dolly bird for the bikini shower shots. I also hope shes not one of these people that cries all the time and then for added sympathy exaggerates stuff.? (she pushed me off the log) Didn't see that at all so I hope thats not the case.

I feel sorry for Rebecca having the kind of comments she got regarding her looks when she isnt even famous for anything to do with modelling etc is ridiculous! She hasn't asked to be judged on her looks

Rebecca getting horrible tweets has nothing to do with Amy.

Rebecca needs to learn to be comfortable in her own skin and stick the proverbial two fingers up to anyone that makes nasty comments imo.

I know what it's like to have remarks made about one's looks. It isn't pleasant but at the end of the day you have to gussy up and ignore it.

You mean like in "Pull yourself together" or "Cheer up, it might never happen?"

She shouldn't get so upset because others are prettier, in her opinion, that she is. That's just silly.

What would you say if a five yr old ran in and said 'I don't want to play with XYZ because they are prettier than I am?'

This. How many people win a Gold medal in their lives it's quite an achievment and something she deserves for working so hard towards it. Looks fade, as my dear old mum used to say, and in the end don't mean very much.

I don't know any. I didn't even know they still did Miss UK or whatever it is.

Rebecca should forget her insecurities and the nasty pieces of work who lurk around on Twitter. She needs to remember what she has done and how proud we all were of being British in the Olympics.

She has nothing to be insecure about. She's a top athlete.”

Without looking how many of Team GB's 2012 gold medal winning athletes can you name?

I think Rebecca got upset because the talk of having to live up to a certain image brought back memories of her being slated by people on Twitter. I thought she'd have been strong enough to keep it together until she got to that hut or whatever it is.

I feel sorry from the bottom of my heart for Rebecca.
She has such a lot to be proud of what she has accomplished and she must remember she will be in record books for her
achivements not many of us can say that.

It is such a shame she no belief in her appearance thanks to a certain person who I hope feels sorry for the heartbreak he has caused but I doubt it, his skin is more than likely as thick as his brain.

She's chosen to put herself back in the public eye by going on this program, if she is too sensitive to cope with it then perhaps she shouldn't have gone in.

In other words why comment on her looks when they have nothing to do with who or what she is trying to be, and indeed succeeding to be (gold medals). It's out of place and therefore comes across as purely unkind.

Now in Amy's case, people judging her looks actually is warranted in that her looks are essentially her career. I mean being in beauty pageants she is 'literally' judged on her looks to a large extent.

They both do different things and are both very good at what they do. For sure if you're naturally blessed with a gorgeous face and body like Amy then that's half the work done right there.

I like and appreciate both of them for who that are and what they've achieved in there chosen path in life.”

Two excellent posts!

I have to agree with Georgiecats that in this day and age it is surprising that contests are still happening where women are judged on looks, but the fact is that they are, and having said that, both young women are entitled to respect for their individual achievements that they have worked hard for.

Rebecca should no more be judged on her appearance than Amy should be judged for not winning a medal at the olympics!

I agree.

How a woman with an OBE & an Olympic gold medal; a woman who was world class in her chosen field & the number one person on the entire planet is worried what a few spineless & faceless keyboard warriors say about her looks on Twitter etc is beyond me.
