Just been on facebook and Twitter catching up on tonight's show and Amy is absolutely HATED! Heard she is doing the challenge too?

What happened?

Amy did nothing tonight to become hated

There was a discussion about beauty pagents but I think Amy was very respectful to other people's views...

She didn't have the decency to have plastic surgery to make herself grotesque. And then, to make it worse, she used what she's got to make a living.

I mean, imagine if all the clever people were allowed to make money from being clever. Oh wait, they are...

OK, imagine if all of the talented people were allowed to make money from being talented. Oh wait, they are...

The sporty people... no, forget that one too...

But it's absolutely dreadful that Amy can make money out of being beautiful. Terrible. She should be ashamed.

The problem the other women are having is that she is bright and articulate as well as the looks and body.

Isn't life a bitch

See I think the opposite. I think her odds will shorten considerably, whether I agreed with her behaviour or not.

This. The conversation wasn't "damn you Amy for being good looking *shakes fist*. It was about the beauty pageant industry that Amy is a part of, hence why she was involved.

EDIT: It would be the same if they were having a discussion about the music industry and asked Kian for his views.

I wouldn't go far as to being ashamed but I do think it's sad that she can make money from it. Same with athletes.

She didnt do anything. I also dont think that Lucy and Rebecca have done anything wrong it was just a discussion, Rebecca got upset which wasnt very nice but they all put their points across and when Leila ended the discussion it did just that, it ended. People have just jumped on the bandwagon that Lucys a bitch, Amys a bitch or Rebeccas a bitch. Mostly because its been a little quiet this year and they want to try cause a fuss when really it was nothing.

Why? I make money by being better than most people at what I do. Why shouldn't she?

This is spot on.

Because being deemed as better looking than someone else does nothing but boost your own ego. Why should you be paid for that? That's assuming that beauty is an easy thing to measure and compare, which it isn't.

It's also genetic. You haven't done anything to make yourself "better" than other people in this area. You haven't studied or apprenticed, or done anything. You just... are.

Sorry if this doesn't make much sense, I'm tired.

I feel really sorry for Amy. She actually thinks she's hated because she's been chosen to do the trial.

People have always made money from beauty, whether it be creating a painting or designing a building or being the subject of a photograph. And yes, beauty is subjective.

But that doesn't mean that it isn't sensible to take a look at yourself and decide what it is about yourself that sets you apart. If that happens to be looks, then good for you. Being able to identify exactly what it is about yourself that you can make a good living from is something we should encourage, in my opinion.

Can the same be said for intelligence? Some people are more intelligent than others. They just... are.

Sure, those who are less intelligent can study and try to improve their lot. Just like I could improve my looks by taking care of my nails and brushing my hair on occasion (). We all have to work out what advantages we have and make the best use of them we possibly can.

I think that's it really. Being beautiful is one thing, but for Amy to have the sheer audacity to be smart, likeable, respectful and have a good sense of humour...well, she's just asking for trouble.

I can't blame people for wanting to make a good living but I don't respect those who use their looks to do so. I admire people who contribute to society, whether that be looking after others or inventing or helping to manufacture amazing products. Standing on a stage while others judge you for how you look and being part of an industry that makes the majority feel bad for the benefit of the minority isn't something I'd encourage.

I don't think Amy came across particularly badly tonight.

You make a good point, but I'm not convinced that the industry makes the majority feel bad. I will readily admit to being average looking at best, but I don't feel bad about it at all. Mind you, I don't watch Miss Universe, so maybe that's why!
