when you first look at that rough face of Lucy's, she looks like an unpleasant person
I gave her the benefit of the doubt but now I agree with John Patridge after her spiteful hypocrtical attack on Amy

She's opinionated, but not spiteful. I am still giving her the benefit of the doubt.

She's my least favourite person in the camp. I like the rest of them.

OP, for me it feels like she has an outer proactive shell covered in spikes & I'm finding her very hard to like. While I agree with some of what she says on beauty pageants, I feel she was quite passive aggressive in the way she manipulated that particular argument.

But didn't you know that all the pretty ones are stuck up and all the ugly ones are beautiful on the inside?

Atleast that's what movies taught me. Amy looks pretty and is a model, therefore she's up herself. Rebecca is all insecure and jealous and according to Big Mo "100 times better than Amy"....

I hate this mindset that the world has going on. "This is how a body is supposed to look", etc. what's wrong with being skinny? If it was Amy and another pretty girl picking on an ugly girl, this behaviour would be classified as BULLYING by the media.

Lucy is as rough as a badgers backside. Haggard sour old face with those skinny arms and big plastic boobs. Ghastly woman - hope she is first out.

Lucy spoke honestly about how she felt growing up, the pressure to be "pretty" etc. A lot of women (and men too) can relate to that.

Obviously she is "triggered" by someone as naturally pretty as Amy - she would have grown up wanting to look just like her. It's not Amy's fault she is pretty, she actually seems like a lovely girl.

I am sure that Lucy will realise this as she gets to know her better. Lucy is an attractive woman in her own right, she has a successful career and a partner and daughter who love her. I hope she gets to know Amy properly and they become friends. I wish both of them well.

She wasn't 'passive aggressive' at all; she was quite openly aggressive. But I think that was ok; Amy didn't mind it at all. I think she was being completely genuine when she said she enjoyed that kind of debate. It was when Lucy stopped being aggressive, and Rebecca wasn't aggressive at all, just distressed, that she stopped enjoying it.

Mo was trying to comfort a crying girl. Also Mo does seem to have a soft spot for Rebecca and her endless scurrying round cleaning and tidying. She laughed when Joey and Amy brought back the washing up still dirty so Amy had to do it all again, but I can imagine it might get slightly aggravating in time if that is their normal behaviour.

What 'world' is this that thinks there is something 'wrong' with having a body like Amy's? Are there still tribes in remote parts of Africa that think it is preferable for a woman to be fat? And surely you can see the difference between two gorgeous models commenting on the body of someone who looks nothing like a model and two much more ordinary woman saying that a gorgeous model makes them feel insecure about themselves?

It was lovely of her to spot Rebecca was upset and to go and comfort her but it was uneccessary and mean of her to put Amy down in order to do that. Maybe if Amy had been mean or picking on Rebecca then I'd understand that remark but Amy had done nothing to deserve being put down.

I agree with this^
I think the person with the problem is clearly Lucy, she is insecure, that's a shame but not Amy's problem.
I feel deeply sorry that Rebecca has suffered such abuse but again none of this is Amy's fault .
I think it's a myth that beautiful people don't have insecurities but honestly those girls should be enjoying their lives and the success they have instead of wasting so much time and energy worrying about how other people perceive them. The quest for youth and beauty is a lifelong obsession and the results of that are clear on the faces of Sharon Osborne and Madonna.

I was surprised when I read how old Lucy is. She's very leathery and weather looking isn't she?

You vocalised that really well. It was there in my head and I'm thinking 'poor Amy' but Amy wasn't coming over as upset, I just knew somehow what Laila was saying was wrong lol

I didn't agree with the discussion last night, nor did I enjoy watching it, but I don't want to judge Lucy too quickly. Especially on her appearance.

Why are people here saying nasty things about Lucy's appearance? It's no wonder women get jealous and bitter.

I think because she seemed to get on her high horse regarding beauty pageants, despite it being obvious that she takes her looks very seriously (Botox, boob job, sun beds etc), and has done lads mag shoots in the past. It made her seem a bit hypocritical.

She may have had her opinions about beauty pagents and asked the question about feeling like a piece of meat, because maybe the lads mags have made her feel like a piece of meat and thought she would questions someone else who has put themself out there to be judged?

Maybe you're right........ But did she feel like a piece of meat before or after she deposited the pay cheque from the lad's mags ?

I would accept that it was a genuine enquiry into how Amy felt as a beauty pageant contestant had she not gone on to ask if Amy didn't think she was perpetuating the idealistic view of women that was imposssible for other women to live up to by looking the way she does and entering these competitions.

It seemed to me that she was trying to lay a guilt trip on her.

I didn't hear her add to the discusssion by bringing up her own contribution to making women feel unattractive by posing in lads mags or having a boob job (not everyone can afford it after all) should us women feel bad about that too?

If Amy wanted to ask Lucy about the lads mags and boob job, she could have. There was nothing stopping her. That was up to Amy to bring it up.

I agree with this.

What if Amy had heard the comments, would that have been ok? She has done nothing wrong, seems like a nice girl, but somehow some people think it's ok to put her down to cheer up other people or build up other people's confidence.

How about building up your confidence by seeing your own good qualities and achievements, not by trying to ridicule/put down other people.

I don't get this backlash that Lucy's comments seem to have generated?
She asked Amy how she felt about pageants.
She obviously does not like the idea of beauty competitions - is there something wrong with that?
Amy was not upset at the questions, not one bit as far as we could see. Lucy was asking questions that I am positive many women would ask if they could - nothing to do with how she or any other women in camp looked?
I'm sure they all discuss each others regular work.
As for Lucy's remarks about her own looks - she was freely admitting she needed all the help she could get! She was just being honest...IMO. Wish I could look half as good...in the jungle with no cream, no make-up and heat that makes you look like a wet rag.

yes she won't stand a chance when Swash delivers a devastating attack on her hypocrisy and passive-aggressiveness

either that or he will wet his pants, curl up into a ball and wail "why don't you adore us luvvly celebrities?"
