I've seen some people saying that there are a few things they saw (mainly slightly extended scenes rather than totally different ones) at the Cinema that are not on the DVD.”

I could simply be unobservant, but not that I've spotted. I watched the blu ray yesterday and the TV recording before that, and I saw it in the cinema too. Slightly disappointed the BD doesn't include Strax's guide to cinema etiquette, including Sontaran punishments for breaking the rules, or a trailer for the Ron Burgundy sequel with him trying to get his head round saying Doctor, Who? Or the 3D introduction with Matt and David and a third Doctor...

I thoroughly enjoyed the episode, I thoroughly enjoyed Hurt's involvement in it, I loved the twist that there was an extra Dcctor we didn't know about and I really don't see any issue with the notion that an incarnation who chose to kill billions of innocent Gallifreyans was an incarnation that the Doctor would prefer to pretend was never him.

Really, all the analysis in the world, no matter how academically valid is just that, acadamic. I couldn't care less whether it stands up to some kind of academic analysis and scrutiny. I just care that it worked for me. It was a brilliant celebration of 50 years and I enjoyed every minute of it.”

Oh certainly, and of course my opinion that Moffat wasn't up to the job is only that...my opinion.
I too found a lot to love about the episode - Hurt in particular was a real gem. It's just that I expected something a lot more enduring than I ultimately got. For once I avoided spoilers and trailers and yet walked away...not unimpressed as such, but not as overwhelmed as I'd have expected. I was quite indifferent.

I think I enjoyed The Night of the Doctor, An Adventure in Space and Time and The Five(ish) Doctors all more than the episode main...an outcome I never expected.

As a side note, I do think its a shame that McGann's triumphant appearance has been consigned to bonus features on the disc. A real shame it wasn't worked into the episode itself.

One person I've seen mention it saw the film in Sweden, one scene they claim was in their version was the Doctor licking the stone dust from the floor.

Now this was seen in The Five(ish) Doctors Reboot so it may just be that person remembering it from there and thinking it was in the actual episode, they do say there were more Zygon scenes in the version they saw as well though.

Now that you mention it... Maybe I'm just being suggestible, but I seem to remember the Doctor tasting the stone dust in the cinema screening. Thats not on the BD. I truly am unsure.

The Night of the Doctor is not in 3D and it has a different Producer and Director. Also, the cast and crew would need to be added to The Day of the Doctor's end credits, which could cause all sorts of headaches as they weren't contracted to appear in the special itself.

It's one thing to use a few seconds of clips of old Doctors, but quite another to shoehorn 6 minutes of another Director's footage into The Day of the Doctor. Contractual issues aside, adding a lengthy pre-credits sequence would wreck the narrative structure of the special.

Agreed. Adding it as an intro would overcomplicate and clutter the episode.

Just watched it again and have a couple of questions.

When Clara was talking to Hurt in the Black Archive, how did he just disappear end up back in the desert?
And when 10 & 11 came after him, how come they suddenly all had their individual Tardis's, when prior to this they were all in one?

The Moment took Hurt back.

11's TARDIS was at the Gallery. 10's only needed to land in a non-TARDIS-proofed area.

So the moment could travel just like the Tardis??

It's manipulation of The Doctor's timeline (and established time locking capabilities) suggests time travel is easy pickings.

I would think so, being the most powerful weapon in the Universe with a name like Galaxy Eater It just put Hurt back where he was before it all began - without the swirly vortex of doom.

If it is that powerful you wonder why it needed the Dr in the first place. Once he stole it, it could have sorted everything out itself.
That wouldn't have made a particularly interesting 50th though would it

It wasn't created to make decisions it was created to carry out the decisions of its operator. Because it grew a conscience it tried to influence that decision making process to produce what it felt was a good result but operating itself was beyond its design parameters

Presumably the planet could have a number of habitats/landscapes - just like earth?”

I think we've just been corrupted by all those US shows/film with their single bio-sphere planets - a "real" Gallifrey should have everything from searing deserts to frozen glaciers.

My Sky box picked it up on series link and I already have it on my Sky box from before. Also I have the Bluray as a Christmas present so I now have it 4 times (3 times on my Sky box including the 3D one!)

I watched it again and caught the line about the ravens needing new batteries for the first time! Must pay attention...
