Reports on Twitter from people suffering from disc read errors. Basically, they put the disc in the slot & it starts clicking and won't run.

http://n4g.com/news/1399107/xbox-one...rejecting-disc

http://youtu.be/IpIi59IXH9A

http://youtu.be/6hePpGBcPak

Hopefully it's not widespread & is just a very small minority like the issues on PS4

The big sticker on the front saying "whatever you do don't move this thing if there's a disc in it" should act as an early indicator that this is likely.

As with the PS4 issues though, it's probably a very small percentage.

Yeah, they should have no problem replacing the machine if it's faulty. Some reports coming through too about E100 errors after firmware updates http://www.product-reviews.net/2013/...00-error-code/

I miss the days when consoles would just work and all you had to do was blow in the cartridge

I wonder if the patch they released (and then pulled swiftly) yesterday was anticipated to fix this? (the "emergency update patch").

Super, Neogaf will have a field day with this trying to prove there are more X1's with this issue than there are PS4's with their current issue.

The rush to publish negative reports on the One would be depressing if it wasn't so very predictable.

Its the PS4 launch all over again.

What is the game industries obsession with highlighting every minor problem making it out to be a huge major issue

It was certainly suggested earlier this year that Sony's February announcement caught Microsoft on the hop, and they've been playing catch-up ever since.

That patch was the same as what you get via XBL... It was for people having problems updating their console directly.

This is wholly unacceptable. There should not be any issues at a launch.

I can't believe they released this console with Blu-ray drives not capable of reading a disc. This is typical Microsoft and shows they rushed this console, they should have delayed it until 2015.

Said those who jumped on the issues last week.

2015??? The console gaming community would have lynched them, they were crying out for a next gen console about three years ago.

Just so everyone knows, my bluray drive on my PC is still working fine, and is still playing at 1080p.

*hugs PC*

Word of caution about the emergency patch.

A user was apparently having loading issues, was instructed by MS to use the emergency patch via USB and his console was then promptly banned for running non-legitimate software.

I doubt very much that a patch would fix this. I'm happy to be proved wrong of course

This sounds very much like a hardware issue. I've heard that sound before on CD drives and that case it was down to the gears in the drive being stripped of its pegs. If that is the case then its a potential major problem as it would indicate that the plastic used in the gears is very poor quality. Alternatively it could be an issue with the loading mechanism where the disk isnt getting fully loaded and the clicking is the "clutch" letting the gears slip so that they don't damage. Either way it does sound like a hardware issue.

I hope for the sake of the XBox One owners though that I'm wrong.

Yes, I know a patch would be less than useful for a mechanical problem, I was referring to OMTT's mention of the dreaded E100 error in post #3 !

The (pulled) patch was probably in anticipation of the "E100" (failed day one update) problem there have been a few reports of (very few to date) -

http://www.nowgamer.com/news/2169713...ng_update.html

So now instead of a manual fix via usb, MS support page says:

"This indicates that there was an issue while updating your hardware, and that you’ll need to submit your console for a repair."
