No point having a music thread without a musician in it.

Im guessing most people on here are one direction and justin beiber fans so not sure if anyone has even listened to this album but would be interesting to hear what people think of his new album.

I dont think its as good as his first, it needs a few listens to get into it but its still a very good album. Some of the songs are a bit longer than they couldve been but the mans a genius, another good album.

first album is great, but 'what doesn't kill you' and 'slumville sunrise' have put me off this one. Undecided whether i need a second JB album

I listened to a few tracks on my friends album - he bought it. It's crap compared to his first so I won't be investing.

Yeah its nowhere near his first album and it definitely takes a few listens to get into it.

The singles he released are probably the weakest songs on the album. There really isnt a standout single on the album like 'lightning bolt'.

Hopefully he ditches Rick rubin soon

Love his first album, but not so keen on his second.

Are we listening to the same record? His new album is amazing. Really loving the two singles, he properly rocks out on them. 'kingpin' is also a nice bit of bluesy rock. The rest of the album is more chilled out like his first. The song 'all your reasons' even has a bit of Pink Floyds wish you were here about it. Also it sounds absolutely gorgeous on vinyl and comes with the MP3 download code too. Highly recommended, think it's better than his first. Would give it 9/10

Nowhere near the quality of his first album.

I've got a lot of respect for Rick Rubin after what he had done with Neil Diamond and Johnny Cash's America albums but this was way off the mark.

Three upbeat songs to kick off the album then it slows down into mediocrity and never recovers.

I loved the last album on first listen, this was just disappointing.

That good aye? Ive been waiting to see what people's opinions of the album were before I decide to buy it or not. Loved the first record, it was a breath of fresh air, but kinda went off him slightly since then. He's a talented young man though so think I might buy the album on vinyl and see if it really is better than the first.

Can't take anyone seriously who has Matt Prime as a co-songwriter. Jake is trying to come across as a 'serious' artist slagging off manufactured/talent show acts - which is fine, but when your songs have co-writers who have worked with Victoria Beckham, Olly Murrs and a host of other crap acts it looks silly. Also his music is pretty low grade bollox, although for any guitar music that charts is better than nothing, no matter how third rate it is I guess.

Seriously? How on earth can you call him a genius on the back of two mostly co-written albums?

I'm not saying he's crap, I quite like his first album and the second one has it's moments although there's some crap on it and it tends to plod after a while but until he actually produces something good that's self written I can't really take him seriously as no matter how well he's marketed as an indie singer songwriter he'll still be another puppet just performing a different style of music.
