So, is the 'war doctor' the 'poor blighter' who destroyed the Tiberian spiral galaxy?

OK, I found some brief references to this idea in the 'Name of the Doctor' episode thread, but maybe it's time to put the theory out there again before tomorrow.

In 'Nightmare in Silver', Porridge explained that the cybermen were defeated by destroying the Tiberian Spiral Galaxy, a strategy that obviously killed all non-Cybermen life forms living there too. He then says that, instead of mourning a billion trillion dead people, he just felt sorry for the "poor blighter that had to push the button and blow it all up"...

Cue trailer images of John Hurt with hands poised above a big button....red herring or foreshadowing?

I thought it was heavily implied during Nightmare in Silver that Porridge was the one who pushed the button?

Indeed which is why he ran away and stopped being the Emperor.

"Heavily implied"? Didn't pick that up at all.
And if it were the Emperor himself, is that a storyline to be resolved??

A nice idea.

Another mystery with The Hurt Doctor is his changing name in the credits:

The Name of the Doctor he is introduced as "The Doctor",
The Night of the Doctor he is "The War Doctor" and
The Day of the Doctor is "The Other Doctor" according to BBC website.

Not long to find out.

I'm not sure if we can conclude that it was Porridge himself, but it certainly might be his predecessor. He knew that one day he would be put in a position to make that sort of decision, and couldn't face it.
